There's just something about Bernie Wrightson's artwork that gets you in the mood for October. It's something that none of the adaptations were able to get right, in my opinion. Just a great gothic atmosphere.

Spawn #12

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

This issue was much better than last issue, delving more into Al Simmons as a character. This series still has some of it's weird moments, but it's not downright terrible.

Lady Death (1997) #7

403/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

This comic is thankfully getting far more complex than just a mere war between Heaven and Hell, uncomfortably siding with Hell. Hope reuniting with her Lady Death form, now no longer a pawn of neither Hell or Heaven, it'll be interesting to see how this book continues.

Ghost Rider (1973) #3 (LGY #10)

401/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

This run is slowly starting to get better, but still with it's ow weirdness still. Writing aside, the art by Jim Mooney this issue was great. Nicely moody for the horror aesthetic, while also energetic enough for the action scenes.

Vampirella Monthly #6

400/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

While the previous issue was a confusing mess, this issue had a lot of interesting reveals. The action this issue was much more straightforward. The reveal of the head of the Anti-Vatican being Judas Iscariat was really well done, with his motivations being really interesting.

The Immortal Hulk #40 (LGY #757)

399/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

Excellent character stuff between Joe Fixit and the Savage persona. Joe defenestrating himself off the Gamma Flight Station was a clever way to escape, given the Green Door and all. The ending reveal of The Thing was also great. This run continues to be as excellent as I heard it was.

Something is Killing the Children #24

This series continues to be excellent, with the confrontation of Erica Slaughter and Cutter drawing closer.

Vampirella (2014) #2

397/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

What a breath of fresh air this run is, having binged the repetitive nonsense that is the Christopher Priest run. This does a great job of referencing the Warren classics, while setting Vampi up on a world tour of monsters to fight. Great stuff.

Vampirella Strikes #3

396/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

A new storyline after the first two issues! With Vampirella now going after someone that skins people alive. I felt Vampirella was a little out of character here, referring to humans as cattle once. Yeah, she struggles with her bloodlust every now and then, but she never found humanity to be beneath her because of it. That hiccup aside, overall this was a fun issue.

House of Mystery (1951) #310

395/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

I don't know, this issue was kind of mixed for me. The I... Vampire segment felt kind of sexist to me, implying that women can't handle the bloodlust like men can. I'm not sure that's what they intended, but that's what it came across as. The second segment, "The Realists", is probably the best segment in the issue, with a great twist to boot. The last segment "Fix You Right Up" was kind of meh overall, but at least he got a suitable comeuppance.

Spawn #11

390/200

#ComicSky #HalloweenHavoc2026 #jwilliams051197ComicReadingChallenge2026

Yeah, decided to skip issue ten. Not only that it isn't in the trade I'm reading from, but looking up the plot of it, but its something I'm not interested in reading about. The whole issue is just a metaphor for creative rights issues in comics, especially from the big two. And while yes, that certainly is an issue in the industry, this book is definitely where you shouldn't talk about it, especially from Todd McFarlane of all people. Yeah, I'm totally going to take your words seriously when you had Spawn crossover with Batman, written without his original creators. Hypocrite.
