A great RGB Satellite loop showing, as we flagged up the last few days, those showers/ severe storms exploding this afternoon over Eastern Spain.

Wettest so far, according to AEMET, is Porqueres (Girona) with 46.1mm with most of this falling in 1-2hrs.

As flagged up yesterday, watch out for some severe storms developing through today and Thu across the East & Balearics, with further storms for Balearics on Fri.

Advisories in place - risk of flash flooding (locally 80mm poss in 2-3hrs), strong gusts & large hail!

#Iberia temps at 7am, 16/09 - coolest to the N this morning are Pajares 7C and Palacios de la Sierra & Benasque 10C, in contrast to a very warm Tropical night still towards parts of the S & E, with Cartagena & Tortosa 23C, Doña Mencía & El Masnou 24C and Jaén & Vandellós 25C! 🥵

Through Wed and into Thu, a combination of Low pressure and some very warm seas across the Mediterranean (mid-high 20Cs), will see severe thunderstorms develop over parts of Eastern #Spain & the #Balearics - risk of flash floods, strong gusts & large hail.

Mid-September and a quick look at Monday's heat saw temps still hitting 40C 🥵 - for #Portugal hottest was Alvega with 40.2C, while for #Spain it was Badajoz 40.1C.

Temps were extreme too across the #CanaryIslands with 40.9C in Tasarte, La Aldea de San Nicolás (W'rn Gran Canaria).

#Iberia temps at 7am, 15/09 - coolest to the N are Xinzo de Limia, Sigüenza & Molina de Aragón at 9C, while still some very warm tropical nights around coasts and especially inland to the SW, with Jaén, Caceres & Castelo Branco 24C, El Masnou 25C and Portalegre & Alajar 26C! 🥵

#Iberia temps at 7am, 14/09 - coolest again to the NE, with Benasque 7C and Tavescan, Molina de Aragón, Vitoria, Medina de Pomar, Burgos & Salamanca 9C, while much warmer temps around coasts and to the SW, with Cadiz 25C, Trujillo 26C but Alicante 28C and Portalegre at 29C! 🥵🥵

A look at Saturday's heat and, as MeteoGib forecast last week, hottest temps transferred to the SW, in #Portugal reaching a scorching 40.9C in Mora & 40.1C Alvega, while in #Spain hottest were El Granado 39.6C & Badajoz 39.1C.
