#FossilFriday #Brachyloposaurus skull (MOR794), w/skin impressions! Judith River Formation (77+ million years ago).

I stayed up late after getting my butt handed to me at game night - you've got some banger entries. Body/Politic hits hard, especially Extinction.

#FossilFriday was just going to be a couple Seymouria, then I realized it was a copy of your copy 😆

This weeks #Lego #fossilfriday is #Tylosaurus

Native American tribes that live on the Great Plains speak of an era of giant marine animals that used to be in constant combat with thunderbirds. This resulted in them being petrified. These might be the origins of those stories.

Happy #FossilFriday!

Conulariids from the Pennsylvanian Finis Shale, north-central Texas, USA.

Five narrow angular but conical shapes, arranged in a small rainbow, narrow ends inward and wider ends outward, each 2-3 cm long, and very finely ribbed perpendicular to long axis.

For #FossilFriday with the upcoming tragic closure of the Sternberg Museum I thought I would share some pictures of our only currently known Mancos Group mosasaur, Gnathomortis stadtmanni. First exhibited as a mounted skeleton at the John Wesley Powell River History Mus., Green River, Utah.

Happy #FossilFriday from the remains of this Moa. Save ANSP!

The leg, hip, foot bones, and several vertebrae of Dinornis maximus, the giant Moa. The Giant Moa was the tallest known Avian (modern birds and all those more closely related to them than to other Theropods) reaching almost 12 feet (3.6 meters) in height and weighing over 500 pounds. They were unable to adapt to humans and other mammals arriving to Aotearoa and became extinct roughly 700 years ago due pressure from hunting, competition, and nest predation.

Have a silly pic as a bonus- from before I got the eyes lined up right

#FossilFriday I was aware that this research was coming, but I didn’t expect it to be published already.

Tromerosaurus solumons is the first time we have an albertosaurine genus that is not Albertosaurus or Gorgosaurus! Or at least probably an albertosaurine (1/7)

Happy #FossilFriday! Specular #fossils of #Brachylophosaurus have been discovered in the #Cretaceous Judith River Formation of #Montana. This is a complete skull (#MOR794) and a section of skin impressions (#MOR1071 8-98-003) from this duck billed #dinosaur.

Powerful letter from paleontologist Kenshu Shimada re: the Sternberg Museum of Natural History at Fort Hays State U in Kansas, US closing by years end. Along w/ the closing of the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, US, this is an alarming trend in the US right now. #FossilFriday 🧪

Very happy to hear that the Maryland Dinosaur Park's discovery trail is now open! Congratulations to everyone there for *finally* making this happen. The sculptures by Tristan Crum look phenomenal—can't wait to see them in person in a couple weeks. Photos borrowed from JP Hodnett. #FossilFriday

It just makes sense.

Scientists have found the first series of dinosaur tracks suspected to be left by a t-rex, shedding some light on their walking pace. The individual who left these tracks appears to have been moving along about as fast as a human speedwalking. www.sciencenews.org/article/t-re... #FossilFriday 🦖 🧪
