Once Again

Death came to me once again, hiding his anger toward me because I had driven him mad.

And I was looking at him with eyes of pity, blaming myself because I had made him mad.

Then he said:
People lie to themselves that the world is not fleeting, and that I will not come to take them, but I come and I end their lie. They beg me to leave them, but I do not, for no one adds or subtracts from the lifespan of creatures. But you are not like them, for you are the only one who wants death.

I said:
I am not the only one, many want death, the deprived like me, deprived of every reason to live.

Then I asked him sadly:
Must I lie and pretend to cling to life until you come and take me?

He answered irritably:
The matter is not in my hands, for this is destined. But let me remind you of what you yourself wrote, Praise be to God for the blessing of poetry, I want to live longer to write more. Why did you also write, I am one who has lost hope?

I said:
I have lost hope in people, because they wish to live forever for fleeting pleasure, and everything passes away. And do not be surprised if I say, come, O Death, come, for fate has placed in my life every reason to say that.

I looked at him, he was silent, and the tears were in his eyes.

I told him, do not grieve, I still have one hope.

He said, astonished:
What is it?

I said:
You are my only hope, maybe you will take me to another life where dreams come true in a happy life.

He said angrily:
I would rather stay away from you, you madman, one moment you make me laugh with your madness, and another you make me weep like the weak, I will lose my dignity.

Then he left hastily, without looking back.

And I was looking at him with weeping eyes, once again Death comes and goes, and does not take me with him.

The Lord turned to him with a laugh of mercy and said:
"My Death, did you see?
This servant of Mine made Me laugh with the madness of his patience,
With his mockery of you,
And with his unshakable faith!"

Death raised his head in astonishment:
"My Lord, how can a servant make the Creator laugh?
I am the one who terrified the kings of the earth,
And froze the blood of the mighty in their beating veins!"

God said gently, like the light of dawn:
"Because he did not fear you, O Death.
He knew that you are a created being under command,
And that hope in Me never dies,
And that whoever puts his trust in Me,
I grant him deliverance from every hardship."

Then revelation descended into the poet's heart:
"My servant, you have made Me laugh.
Ask Me whatever you wish,
For you have earned closeness."

The poet wept with joy,
And cried out with a voice that filled the universe:
"My Lord, I want people not to fear death,
And I want every despairing one to see hope in You,
So that pain may disappear,
Sorrow may fade away,
Fear may vanish,
And everyone may know
That You alone never fade away."

God laughed once again,
And said to Death:
"Look!
This servant of Mine teaches people
How to laugh in the face of sorrow,
And how not to lose hope in the presence of despair.
Go to him, O Death,
Not to take his soul,
But to greet him with respect,
And say to him:
You are the one who made Death laugh,
And made God smile.
So continue in your sacred madness,
For you have made the heavens and the earth laugh together!"

And so,
I remained laughing with God,
While Death kneels before my faith,
And the whole world whispers to me:
"You are the madman who made Death and God laugh.
Blessed are you,
O Maker of joy from the womb of pain!"

Death is a Drunken Preacher

After Death left, laughing madly,
He went dragging his disappointment toward the tavern...
Hoping to forget the contagion of my poetic madness!
He drank and drank... until he grew drunk,
Then he stood among the people in his strict black cloak,
Screaming at them at the top of his hoarse voice:
"O people... beware of approaching that madman!
Or else he will infect you with his madness just as he did to me!"
And so Death became... the drunken, mad preacher.

Then, after he read my poem,
Death ascended to heaven in a rush,
And said to God, furiously mad:
"Please... I beg of You,
Allow me to go and end this poet's life!
He will turn me into a madman... a laughingstock for all creation!"

God Almighty smiled... and said to him:
"O Death... do not be angry with him,
He does not fear you... because he is truthful and obedient.
Have you not read what his wounded heart said?
(I am very, very sad... but I want to make people happy,
Perhaps their joy will make me forget my sadness because I am sad for them,
Perhaps my despair of their reform will turn into hope by having joy with them).
He is not mocking you, O Death,
Rather, he wanted to bring joy to My servants,
While reminding them of the inevitability of meeting you.
Go to him now... and show him respect!"

Death walked away astonished...
Astonishment filling his entire being,
For the poetic madman did not only make Death laugh,
But he made the Great Creator... smile!

Finally you have come!
Welcome,
I have waited so long for you,
Come,
Take me into your cold embrace.

Death replied angrily:
I am not here to take you,
I am only here to tell you:
Stop bothering me
With your constant saying:
"Come, Death, Come!"
I will come when your time comes.

I have come today
To tell you,
O despairing one,
What might help you
To live happily,
O you who say
That hope does not exist.

Of course hope exists,
Because God exists
Always and forever.

O you who have despaired
and lost hope
because you have lost patience
with the calamities of this world,
remember always and forever:
The hardships that have befallen you in your time
are a consequence of your own bad deeds.

So repent to God,
with sincere repentance,
and obey Him,
and call upon Him always
for His mercy and forgiveness.

He is God, the Forgiving, the Merciful,
therefore, trust in Him always and forever.

For hope,
always and forever,
is God Almighty.

Return to God Almighty,
for He is the light of guidance
that illuminates the path
toward enlightenment.

Return to Him Almighty,
for He is hope,
He is aspiration,
and He is the path to salvation
from the hell of this world
and the torment of the Hereafter,
and to the Paradise of salvation.

Then Death laughed,
mocking itself, and said:
I am teaching you how to live
instead of taking you!

Apparently,
O poetic madman,
the madness has infected me.

Then Death left, laughing,
saying:
Look at me!
I am Death...
laughing madly!

And I was left alone,
thinking about his words.

Then I said to myself:
Have I truly...
driven Death mad?

Or is it a light
that shines in the darkness?

I am a poetic bird,
but I am human.

I want my pen to be
an everlasting flame,
my poems messages of goodness,
and my words a light
that tears through the darkness of life.

There are many people
whose hearts are filled with darkness,
and I want to see the light
shining from within them,
dispelling their darkness,
bringing peace to their souls,
and allowing them to live in peace
with themselves,
with God,
with all creatures.

What is humanity?

To be a light of goodness,
to believe in God,
to obey Him,
and to be content
with what He has given us.

What does humanity mean?

It means
that we are all
brothers and sisters in humanity,
regardless of
religion,
origin,
language,
skin color.

Humanity is not merely
a name or a quality,
but a light we carry in our hearts
and give to others,
so that together we may live
in love and peace,
in every place and every time.

Come,
I have waited so long for you,
Come,
I have been waiting for you with great impatience
for a very, very long time.

Don't you read how much I have written
about my great yearning for your coming,
and for you to take me away
from my miserable life,
which I live,
in continuous suffering
and unending torment,
alone, with no one with me
except my sorrow and my pains.

Come, why don't you come?
Or are you, like my fate,
so very harsh
and merciless,
taking great pleasure
in my suffering and torment?

Come, O Death,
have mercy on my soul,
perhaps after my death,
in your cold embrace,
it will find rest and contentment.

And I promise you a sincere promise,
while I am in my grave,
I will be thankful to you
always and forever.

Come, O Death,
perhaps through you
there will be my salvation,
come, come.
