@koganbot.bsky.socialAshley Monroe "Siren" (2021)
Ashley Monroe has drifted as far out-of-category as the Holy Modal Rounders and Big Star while not making nearly as big a deal out of it. The sound here has a drift, sad happy refusing to land.

@irenzero.bsky.socialPunk Rockers the Dils transformed themselves into Rank N File in the early 80s, mixed Country and Punk creating what would become Alt Country in the 90s.. anyway this song is one of their best.

@danmcaoa.bsky.socialRevisiting the 1972 Kenny Rogers & The First Edition’s country rock concept album The Ballad of Calico. Did it aspire to be country rock’s Tommy or Jesus Christ Superstar? Who knows? It is the story of a silver mining town in the San Bernardino mountains. #CountryRockSunday

@levin.bsky.socialSuzi Quatro’s live cover of The Honky Tonk Downstairs!
Idk why they thought she needed to change the song’s pov due to gender. It weakens the story. Artists doing that are always silly to me. But it’s still great. #CountryRockSunday

Psych Folk Country from the early 70s, That Bass Line and Keyboard stings .. just imagine Johnny Cash covering this one...
@koganbot.bsky.socialThe Holy Modal Rounders "Give The Fiddler A Dram" (1964)
Album one, roaring out of the gate, raving away on gtr and fiddle. "I worked all night with a bottle in my hand,""A pretty little girl with a red dress on, she put it on, I put it on."

@koganbot.bsky.socialThe Holy Modal Rounders "Interlude 2" (1968)
The Holy Modal Rounders looked at the 1920s not for Music Of The Past but for visions and adventure. Now on their fourth album they create a coalition of sounds that go in all directions at once.
