Perched just above the water on the base of bent cattail reeds, a green heron faces the camera and looks slightly to the right. While the gorgeous iridescent green feathers on its wings, which are the typical highlight of this bird's beauty, are not visible in this photo, its chest and underside are also beautiful. Streaks of white run through reddish-brown feathers from its throat to its sides and all the way down to its legs. Great Egret (Ardea Alba) and Grey Heron (Ardea Cinerea) next to each other in a small stream that wasn't fully frozen over and competing for the fish. A few moments after this the grey heron chased off the egret.Juvenile common kingfisher (Alcedo Atthis) sitting on a branch and looking straight into the camera lens. Nicely puffed up and cute, but also looks to have a bit of an angry face.
