Not many birds this month, mostly insects but I never seem to have a long lens when I see the Nuthatch. So I took this with a 90mm macro lens and cropped it. It's just a bit of fun isn't it?

A Nuthatch is perched on the trunk of a walnut tree in it's usual "head down" position. A very colourful and striking bird that appears everyday in our garden. The background is out of focus green foliage.

An Osprey is perched in a Sweet Gum tree with yellow and green leaves surrounding him/her. The bird faces us and we see a bright white head, chest and abdomen. The bird has a yellow eye seen in profile along with a broad brown eye stripe leading to the back of the neck. The wings are dark brown at the sides. The large hooked, matte-black, beak is seen in profile as the bird looks to our left while searching for food.

Between hummingbirds, cuckoos, and warblers, it's hard to choose a #BestOfTheMonth for #BirdOfTheDay, but I do like this #NorthernParula from Murphey Candler Park on Monday. #FallMigration

Against a soft focus green background in dappled light, a Northern parula sits in the middle of crisscrossing twigs from which hang serrate-edged leaves, some speckled and some splattered with brown, some lit by the sun and glowing golden. The parula is a tiny bird with a blue-gray head, bright yellow throat and breast, a broken white eyering, short yellow bill, white belly, a large green-gold patch on an otherwise blue-gray back and black and white bars on otherwise blue-gray wings.
