On the road in front of the characters a bit down the way is many many intricate overlapping graffiti’s in different styles. At the very edge there is an arrow, pointing the characters and the reader down the highway. Letters and names are scrawled in many different scripts. Hearts,

The graffiti in this little abandoned town is odd. Micah stands and stares at it for a long time. It looks oddly familiar, a shadowy depiction of a creature lurking between the trees, long jagged, many-pronged horns coming from its head and long claws digging into the bark of a tree.

I think Natila, Kathy, and Aleta would be really fun to bring. Both very curious children.

Most of the graffiti is on the barricades at the abandoned mine, though some people have obviously ignored those (stupidly) to add some inside the mine itself. Amid the usual names and dick pics, some Union messaging really stands out.

There's a complex of identical rowhouses right along the central strip. Nothing fancy, not new or antique - I'm thinking ~80s/90s with wood plank walls - painted in shades of gray. 2 stories, with screen doors onto a greensward. There are toys outside from the wrong season

The old hotel is a blocky building with a crumbling facade. The windows are too dusty to see inside. The front steps are splintering.
