#ElberryCove #Devon on 26 June, as Suffolk sweltered in record high temps, was pleasant 21.6°C, sea a warm 20.2. Besides green #algae Broadleaf Sea Lettuce (Ulva lactuca) & Gutweed (U. intestinalis), red algae, Common Coralline (Corallina officinalis) & Devil's Tongue Weed (Grateloupia turuturu).

Elberry Cove has a wealth of seaweeds, especially the brown #algae (Ochrophyta) Spiral (Fucus spiralis) & Saw Wracks (F. serratus) but also some Bladder Wrack (F. vesiculosus) & Rockweed (F. distichus). The words "wrack" & "wreck" come from the Norse word for "to cast ashore". #seaweed #marinelife
