The game is afoot, Doctor. #tcmparty #obsession

Me every day on Bluesky.

Again, Monty helps us see the characters’ true selves. When it came to Bill’s disappearance, Storm cared more about her reputation. When it comes to Monty’s, she’ll take it straight to Scotland Yard. She’s capable of – one might say – “conditional compassion.” #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty #Obsession

I'm getting a bit of Constance vibe, yes!

Kill your adulterous rival? Yes, fine.

Harm Monty?

This is a such an interesting portrayal of British-US relations post-war, especially after having watched The Sea Hawk (1940) last night (where Errol Flynn plays the US coming to the aid of his beloved English sovereign).

Naunton Wayne as Supt. Finsbury

Wayne and actor Basil Radford – paired in The Lady Vanishes (1938) as two cricket-obsessed gents – proved such a hit with audiences that they were subsequently paired in dozens of comedy-thrillers, both on screen and on radio. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty #Obsession

Monty ran away from her in Clive's office to jump up on the patient. He didn't go to Clive, so he absolutely would run away from her "for nothing". Her claims that he wouldn't are about as believable as the effusive love letter she invented from Bill.

He is NOT going to hurt Monty!!!!!!😱😭

This is disgusting! I thought they were going to avoid getting into this!
Oh no no no no no Bill, don't try to poke holes in his plan so that he fixes it.

Riordan is apparently going to talk Kronan to death.

The way Clive pronounced “flesh & bone” just slays me.

In this scene, Clive is transformed from villain into monster, while Bill morphs from victim to hero. Monty gives us our first insight into these characters’ true natures. #Obsession is the rare film where the “rootability” factor is pretty much determined by a dog. 🐕 #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty

Until now, all we knew of Bill was his fondness for women; his character has been defined mostly by his failed strategies for escape. Now we see a man so horrified by an act of savagery, he takes swift action. We glimpse his moral backbone & inherent decency. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty #Obsession
