AURA: MAGIC

“Magic?”
What if magic isn't supernatural…
What if it's MATH + PHYSICS + IMAGINATION?

The #Magic have a new offense, perhaps. It was only one preseason game. But there were a lot of positive signs to believe in:

FINAL: #Magic 122, Grizzlies 118

Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Desmond Bane only played in the first half, but there was lots to like in coach Sean Sweeney's preseason debut.

Orlando will return home before heading to Cleveland for its 2nd preseason game on Sunday.

; a chilly winter morning;

breath a visible whisper //

children exhale; stare in awe -

as if by magic, their breath

transformed // a wispy cloud of

dragon's smoke emerges; swirls;

vanishes before their eyes.

The #Magic's offense showed some fun new wrinkles, movement and shooting. I had the team with a 64 points on 50 possessions in the first half. Paolo and Franz combined for 12 assists. Magic led by as much as 18 and defeat the #Grizzlies 122-118.

#Magic try to foul up three with five seconds left. Walter Clayton nearly got the shot off with the foul. But the refs change the call and (correctly) call it on the floor. Clayton has two free throws now.

Gator on Gator violence with that Colin Castleton block on Walter Clayton.

Getting a good look at the Osceola Magic in the final moments of this game.

#Magic continue to win the offensive glass. Been a big story in the second half.

Tristan da Silva caught some fire in the third quarter. He hs 19 points to lead the #Magic. Kevin Knox and Goga Bitadze doing some good stuff for this bench group. #Magic lead 94-87 after three quarters.

Tristan da Silva has 17 points and 4-for-8 from three. #Magic have gotten solid work from Jamal Cain (10 points) and Wendell Carter (10 points) too.

This is not the same great ball movement and cutting from earlier. But the #Magic are making shots again.

No Paolo, Franz or Bane to start the third quarter. I would doubt we see them the rest of the game.

It is not important to win this game. The #Magic have seen what they want.

Plenty still to work on.

Both Paolo and Franz are struggling from the floor at 2 for 7. Not their best games.

But here is the good news: Bane, Wendell and Jase are +11. When the full starting group is in, the #Magic are dominating.

Halftime: #Magic 64, Grizzlies 61

Far from the strongest finish to the 2nd quarter for Orlando, which let Memphis score 35 points in the frame.

11 points and 5 assists for Banchero, Bane and Vucevic both have 9 points with three 3s apiece, and Tristan da Silva with 8 points.
