Cassie opened the actor door on the other side of the shuddering prop. “Fire!” She waved at the group. “Come on, out the next door marked Emergency Exit.”
The woman moaned another prayer. Cassie locked eyes with the young boy at the woman’s side. “Fuego. Sigue andando, nunca pares. Fuego!” The boy nodded and scampered past, while the woman followed with outstretched arms in a useless attempt to catch him.
Cassie brought the radio mic to her mouth and sent the message that would terrify Security.  “Cassie to Security. Fire in the house. Repeat, fire in the house.”
“Quit effin around, Cassie. I found your clown’s hoodlums,” replied Hank.
Cassie ground her teeth. “You can’t have pissed off all the ladies at dispatch. Make the call.”
“Copy. Fire in the house. Call the FD and coordinate evac.” A moment of silence passed before he continued with a break in his voice, “Kyle, get the friggin house lights on.”
Cassie followed the thickening smoke down the hallway, ignoring the jostling fridge. Tendrils of fumes twisted into her lungs. Stumbling, she flopped spread-eagle against something warm, soft, and furry. Convincing screams blared from the speaker in pitch black. A limb squirmed under her hip. Abruptly, the speakers stopped, leaving her ears ringing in the muffled quiet. Dim lights pierced the smoke.

A pale girl with black hair and gold eyes, dressed in brown gambeson holding a bear-cub. She stands in front of a pale blue background with a darker blue circle in the middle decorated by star patterns. The art is by Nushdeco according to its watermark and depicts the character Ata Glyndŵr from the Raven & Bear collection of short stories by Bramble.
Evander marched down the short passage to the interior door. Beyond that door was his destiny. He reached for the handle and hesitated. After a moment’s thought, he lowered his hand and instead removed his backpack. It was best to prepare beforehand. He couldn’t feel the effects of the radiation yet, but once he opened the door, he expected to only have minutes to live. Apocalypsium-99 was likely his doom.
Screenshot of a youtube post. It reads:

Hey everybody!

We're halfway through October (yay, spooky month!), which means now is a great time to look back at all on September's writing prompts. What did you work on? Which piece did you churn out the fastest? Which one took the longest time to write? What's one you're most proud of?

And if you missed them, no worries. You can find them all in the Writing Prompt: September playlist! There's also an extra special prompt I'm giving the readers of this post...

Let's go a little more abstract this time. Imagine that the list of songs below is a playlist your character has made. Pick one song that resonates deeply with them, one song that they used to listen to a lot but haven't heard in a while, and one song that someone else added to their playlist. Now that you've got a better handle on this character, write a piece starring them.

Music of September:
* Devils in the Canyon by The Strike
* Burn Butcher Burn, Cover by Reinaeiry
* Thumbnail by Louie Zong ft Brian David Gilbert
* Family Line by Conan Gray
* Go Tonight by Krystina Alabado, Emma Hunton
* the fall by half•alive
* Aio no Scenario, English cover by JudyPhonic
* Spoken For by Flavor Foley
