It's generally considered evil to eat an anthracana (magical creature with human characteristics, like a harpy or satyr) and some would call it cannibalism.

Non-human-like arcanafauna are also generally not considered food, but I won't say people don't eat them.

Most magical plants I have that are edible are more likely to be fermented into potions as opposed to being eaten in a magical salad or garnish unless they are super rich.

Not all are yummy anyway. Thalia drinks a vigorita (vigor) potion and gags it down.

Botanical art of reagents used in the Sigils universe for healing.

Passion Thistle is a wild onion with pink flowers used for healing.

Vigorita is a magical cross between sugarcane and coffee, with wiggly leaves and red berries ion a bamboo-like stem for energy.

Brittle Blood is a used to treat diseases. It's a glowing pomegranate.

Nothing we wouldn't recognize at the table. Honey, milk, mundane (non-magical) animal meat, poultry.

I suppose humans can eat arcanafauna, but even my beetles are as smart as kindergarteners and my dragons are smarter than humans, only a villain would eat arcanafauna.

Elvish Star Wine is something I’ve created that I *desperately* wish existed in real life.

It can only be made by the elves, not for any like, secrecy reasons, but because the magic involved is just unique to the elvish mind.

Henet moved a few more piles of books to the floor and cleared room on the table. Melic placed the glasses down and took up the bottle. A tap to the top and the cork leapt free with a cheery pop before disappearing. He did the honor of pouring, and a deep purple liquid the color of the last rays of sunset flowed into the glasses. As it swirled small sparkles danced throughout it, reflecting Henet's reading light throughout the glass. The two of them clinked their glasses and drank.
The wine was room temperature but immediately Melic's mouth went the deep, clear, cold of a snow capped mountain in the depths of winter. Echoes of blackberry and pomegranate played across his tongue as he swallowed, with a bright citrus finish when he inhaled. As it traveled through his body the feeling of cold grew less sharp, slowly transforming into the warmth of a fine liquor.
"Ahhhhhhhh...
" he sighed, "Elvish Star Wine. It's been some
time since l've enjoyed one this fine."

We'll talk about kukash today! Kukash is an Itharan honey wine that's closely associated with the kuzazu, wasp beastfolk.

Kuzazu originate from solitary wasps, like mud daubers and tarantula hawks, and despite their humanoid form most struggle to express themselves in

⚠️ Deep Dive 🧵1/9

I created ballfruit to solve a few different issues.

1️⃣ How would Builders feed their general project?
2️⃣ How to keep energy-hungry hominin bodies fed?
3️⃣ How to effectively deliver Enclosure nanites?
4️⃣ How to do all this without agriculture?

There's the juice they drink all the time, which is made of a fruit that's something between an orange and a lemon. The basics form is similar to a standard lemonade, but usually people add spices and flavour and it can differ with who makes it.

Afraid this is not delicious...

Biomeal.

Provided as a social service in Ivory City, it's a lab created food that satisfies all nutritional needs. It comes in various flavors marked by color. The downside is that it is the texture of overcooked instant oatmeal.

#TheDragonblood: Well, magical ferns don't exist in reality. They don't taste any different from regular ferns, but they replenish magic in mages and give nonmagical folk the ability to sense magic for a time.

Also, domestic mammoths.

So, after Kai Azui gets possessed by ghosts he glows blue, happens to him every night afterward.
And in honour of him kinda looking spectral, a cocktail was named after him
The Blue Shade.
Aidenn explains it’s half Tavarin spirits (like white rhum) and half lub fruit juice 🪡

“They have a new drink on the menu called “The Blue Shade,” I said. Kai was having too much fun being visible and spooking tourists by his very existence that he finally got a drink named after him.
“Sounds like it might sneak up on us with the alcohol content.”
“Quite possibly, it’s like half tavarin spirits and half lub fruit juice,” I said. The former, something quite similar to white rum, and the latter something quite similar to a citrus fruit, but as blue as ice. It was one of several things sent as a gift of exchange to Earth’s representative. And before I was assigned back to Mother, there was already news of trying to grow lub fruit on Earth.
“Well, let’s give it a go.” It tasted just fine, but the alcohol certainly did not sneak up on either of us, it was very forward, maybe even scarily so.
“We might be drunk until a fifth from now.” I laughed.
“No kidding… I’m not sure it would be wise for us to finish these,” she said humorously.
“Maybe not, but the trip is long and we have time to sip,” I said. I took a deep breath, the sea air always smelled nice.

Ok so the burrowing (sand) lobsters. They’re a terrestrial species, and they CAN be cooked and eaten fresh, but they taste like dirt if you do. They taste much better if you soak, brine, rinse, brine, parboil, and then roast them. Don’t skip a step.

The blood drinkers in my world consider it shockingly intimate to consume blood directly from the flesh. It is only done between lovers, and only in private.

Kuvrans have a food taboo—meat, fish and dairy are never eaten raw. Just smoking and pasteurization are fine, as long as it somehow "makes friends with fire."
The various Yetenseric schools disagree on what they're not supposed to eat.
Zocheians never cook with rosemary.

No eating any self-aware lifeform. Even the werewolves who guard part of the continent of Zorestia respect this baseline.

Drinking the blood of self-aware lifeforms is acceptable if one happens to be a vampire, but 🧵

#TheDragonblood: Not too many, as far as I've decided.

Gnaramater and/or Amfrobena might have set procedures in place for the humane treatment of livestock animals, which people may or may not follow. Deiuoreks's laws are the ones people most strongly care about.

Legally, almost everything is fair game as long as you acquire it legally. So killing people for their flesh is a no, but so is poaching.

The one exception is beast meat. Of course, eating it will effectively kill you, so it's kinda hard to enforce.

Nistyr, a fruit native to Rychilla, is halfway between an orange and an apricot. It's widely used, for both cooking and snacking. Its nectar is also used to sweeten coffee and tea, and is mixed with water to make juice.
