Just made a modest donation to the #RNLI because they do a bloody hard and difficult job and don't deserve the far right abuse. Also to say F*** Farage.
The far right’s attack on the #RNLI is a particularly grotesque moral inversion: the volunteer who risks his life to retrieve a drowning stranger is recast as the traitor, while the masked agitator attempting to intimidate him assumes the mantle of patriot. This is not patriotism but ...
This week, been hearing about abuse RNLI peeps getting.
Just been on site buying merch to wear. Gonna wear that stuff to death. Happy to hear dem views.

Just upp’d my #RNLI donations and a few bits of swag for chrimbo @rnli saves lives and a large fuck off to the #blackshorts
Just bought a #RNLI lapel pin badge.
With all the conversation around the #RNLI these past days, I want to point out @YellowWellies_Unofficial will let you know each and every time these amazing volunteers risk their lives.
I’m no royalist, but wouldn’t it be good if King Charles decided to visit a lifeboat station and praise the outstanding work done by their volunteers? He’s in the north east at the moment and Fraserburgh is just an hour from Balmoral. It would be a really positive signal to the RNLI! #RNLI
Be more Harry and support the #RNLI
This is my learning disabled son standing outside the RNLI station in Borth.
Have you ever seen 'Saving Lives at Sea', the long running documentary series which is available on BBC Iplayer and follows the lifesaving efforts of #RNLI volunteers? It's incredible to learn, between 1939-1945 the Royal National Lifeboat Institution saved 6,376 people during WW2.👇👇
I’m in awe of the RNLI.
I’d like to invite you all to check out the amazing things they do.
Oh and also they have an online shop which has some fantastic shop.rnli.org

I have absolutely no problem defending the RNLI crew doing their job.
I’d have a serious problem pretending the system they’re being forced to operate inside is remotely normal.
Those are two completely different things.

Every bit of this system is connected.
When one part fails, another gets dumped with the consequences.
And increasingly that means volunteer lifeboat crews are being dragged into an immigration crisis they didn’t create and cannot solve.

If you’ve put 100+ people on an RNLI lifeboat, you need somewhere for them to go.
You can’t tell volunteer crews to rescue people and then apparently leave them trying to work out where they’re actually allowed to land them.

Let’s be absolutely clear.
The RNLI’s job is to save people at sea.
It isn’t Border Force. It isn’t an immigration processing centre. It isn’t a taxi service from the Channel to wherever government wants people taken.
1/8🧵
The RNLI is now having to “understand” why a lifeboat carrying more than 100 migrants was refused access to Southampton and Portsmouth.
That should concern everyone.
The RNLI shouldn’t be left carrying the consequences of government failure.
