Interesting piece about Ronald Hernández's time at Aberdeen, which he says was undermined by difficult timing, adapting to the physicality of Scottish football, and the disruptions of the Covid-19 pandemic, which left him separated from his family.

P.S. Still working out how to make these work while keep the threads a reasonable length.
P.P.S. Pretty anxious about Portland's future, even going into the sprint season. Nothing's really clicking. #rctid
The West standings, 8th to 14th
COL, LAG: 36 pts.
SEA: 35 pts.
POR, RSL, SD: 32 pts.
ATX: 31 pts.
The only question: can Portland can climb back into the play-in?
Strong at home, Colorado’s 4 home games should keep them safe – which makes Oct. 17 at Providence a *big one.* #rctid (8/9)
The attack-based solution is attack strategy for getting Velde, Janssen and Lassiter into shooting outside-the-18 positions for service. Yeah, it’s hard, but slowly passing ball around perimeter doesn’t work when we don’t have an attacker who can drive ball at defense to create gaps in it. #rctid
I hear you, but our attack problems start in back. We can’t maintain takeaways through transition; if Pele and Ronaldinho up top, it wouldn’t matter because they can’t receive ball in dangerous central positions. I realize “cross and pray” drives up xG, but it’s a last resort approach. #rctid
Conceding early goals is a trend the Timbers just can't kick in 2026. #RCTID

i can't imagine the last 3 matches going the same if Kelsy was on the pitch. hurts a lot more than i thought it would.

ICYMI, Some Notes & Commentary on Saturday's loss at San Jose.
Didn't have much confidence going into that one, don't feel any different tonight.
With that in mind, what does Marti Cifuentes do with the rest of the season? What is the best use of what he has now?
Going big... #rctid
Bottom line, I don’t think there will be much to get excited about even if Portland makes the postseason.
I’m going to close with a question: how new players do the Timbers need between midfield and defense to clean that shit up back there?
Assuming contracts aren't locked in... #rctid (8/8)
I’d like to see Velde dial back the star fits and lean into lifting up the players around him. He teeters on the edge of good and great and, to keep flogging the horse, I think he’d be better if he’d stop trying shove an “I” into “team.”
Any thoughts on how much losing Kelsy hurt? #rctid (7/8)
On the one hand, this continues Portland’s run of slow starts; on the other, this looked *a lot* like San Jose’s win over San Diego.
What hurts most: the Timbers had a guy near Judd on both goals; they just lost him when he found that extra yard of space. So close, yet so very far. #rctid (4/8)
Sometimes I sit on a result, thinking I need to mull it over.
That pretends there’s something complicated going on, when there isn't.
The Timbers got rolled in San Jose last night. Pretty simple.
Again (it’s there somewhere), can a team have good moments at six feet down? #rctid (1/8)
The Portland Timbers will not make the playoffs in 2026 because they cannot start a games in a consistently positive manner. They will also not make the playoffs because they cannot find a way to be consistently competitive away from home. #RCTID
