"Sonnet 73," by William Shakespeare
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang...

suspecting

hard times

A crisp and chilly
Breeze goes by
Beneath the
Red and purple sky
The falling leaves
rift to the ground
While the peace
And quiet wraps around

the trees coppered by the water,
the geese ragged in the low sky.

still & mirrored in the loch’s clear sheen

After a friend has gone I like the feel of it:
The house at night. Everyone asleep.
The way it draws in like atmosphere or evening.
One-o-clock. A floral tea pot and a raisin scone.

"Your nine dogs are a nuisance and blight,"
Said a neighbor. "They #bark day and #night.
Our whole block plans to sue."
Said the owner, "Boo-hoo!

Dark rocks stand guard by the sea.
Before the morning comes to be.
A distant tower shines so bright.
Piercing through the pre-dawn night.
The waking sky begins to glow.
Upon the quiet waves below.
