Welp, here's the part where I admit that this small city on an island in the ocean may not be handling their waste in an environmentally friendly manner...

They dump nearly everything in the ocean.

It's right there! And it's so easy! 🧵

The heart af Astara is a refinery system that mines Alaim and processes this into various forms. One of those is energy for utilities and portable technology that requires an energy source. This could be for heating, cooling, weapons, lighting, etc

#Septopolis 2026! 9/18 The water of the Great Lakes is certainly drinkable, and many species do drink from it, but most of the city's drinking water comes from safer springs and reservoirs. Smaller isolated lakes, formed by natural or artificial flooding, may also be reserved as drinking wells.

The Guardian Gems that fuel Eden create electricity to power the domes. They have large underground desalination systems to pump in water from the ocean, and most everything else is recycled in Dome 4, including garbage and biological waste.

I hope you're all having a great day! 😄

Aww, I don't get to design a sewer system because so few denizens have bowels. 😆

We're still going to get weird with it though, don't worry.

The two dieties that rule the garbage: King Vultures (🤨) and The Filth Eater(🤢)!

Since its province of Invarra lives and dies on mining, there is serious pollution resulting from it. The capital city of Ulen has taken great strides to protect its water sources, while other areas have been poisoned. Food is largely imported due to Invarra's insufficient arable land.

Floating on a lake, the main thoroughfares of Lakeside are canals serviced by gondolas and ferries. The gates were designed for the city to be accessed by boat, but when it became Bastion, bridges were built to the northern and western gates.

18) Utilities and waste

Platypus Station relies heavily on recycling. Anything that can be recycled, is.

This includes water. Way back in the day, they had to bring in shipments of water. But nowadays, water usage is a closed system. Any that is used is processed for reuse.

Geez. Lakeside is probably less than a square mile (which is still a lot of enchanted marble foundation)

A lot of that is buildings 2~3 stories tall, though there are some landmark buildings that can be taller, and there's the 8 central towers which are dozens of stories tall.

The Bunker is not that big to excuse wasting energy on transport for Newes (okay, there is at least one utility elevator). So - on foot you go! Yes, 12 floors up or down is walkable thanks to stairs!

For transport on the surface, there are several special 🧵

Air and water are cycled between Arcadia and the atmosphere through special filaments branching from the city's underside. To keep the air breathable and the water potable, the city uses a combination of organic and human-made filtration systems, like plants interspersed throughout.

The Bunker is fairly small all things considered, based off the 12 underground levels of the original complex.

These were planned with efficiency in mind, housing a reactor, ALARES and its machinery, limited housing, a few hydroponic farms and a major sized data storage facility. 🧵

#Septopolis Trams or trains are impossible since rails could be damaged all the time by the hero/villain fights. Boats and planes are dangerous for the same reason. However, buses are basically armored tanks and so are cars. As a result, the town have the best car manufacturers in the world.

Big #Septopolis day!

During the hype days, Khonri specifically even asked me, and I quote, "How do they... oxygen?🤷‍♀️"
So that will be my first utility to consider.

Caveat, Im not a chemist, physicist, mathematician etc, so Im making wild guesses about the capacity of things...

#septopolis Mottled Hollow does not have electricity generation or a dump in town (though there is a scrapyard outside city limits). While there is a small river running through town, the drinking water is pumped up at a municipal plant and & waste water is treated & dumped into the river. Many in

⚡ is firewood, collected from the forest.

The real ⁉️ is waste, and the answer is trifold:

1️⃣ Distributed dry composting latrine system (the river is NOT a sewer)
2️⃣ Diverted/Collected Urine paradigm
3️⃣ Separate Wash Area

Y'know how I mentioned that elves use magic like technology? That's pretty important here.

First, energy! Everything elves use that resembles modern technology just kinda...works. It's all powered through the Ohr, which is only "expended" through conjuration, so things like

Water comes from a river the burh is on the edge of. Garbage and dead things tend to get buried.
