I'm currently at about 6,000 words. I don't really plan for this to be a long story, more like a scrapbook novella. There'll be tables, lists, and intentionally crude drawings.

word count, but also hopefully in doneness lol. it would incredible to have a completed draft by the end of this since I plan to draft starting this month, but we'll see
Q3: Will you be measuring your progress in word count, page count, or hours spent working on your #FirstDraftFall project? #WeeknightWriters

I struggle a lot with this, literary sci-fi with some horror overtones? (I hate using literary as a modifier), people have suggested bio-punk, upmarket, and slipstream previously.
#WeeknightWriters A1: I haven’t figured out a #FirstDraftFall project yet! I’m still cleaning stuff up from last year!
My current wip is supernatural romance, but it's also got heavy worldbuilding and is character focused so maybe it's Literary Fiction?
Could it be considered urban fantasy? I suppose if you consider every door being a portal, maybe. #firstdraftfall #weeknightwriters
I really like writing cozy, and lighter character focused things. I'm going to be trying hard to balance the whole take over the world plot and action scenes with the quieter character moments to still end up cozy adjacent.
It takes a lot of influence from gothic romance, but it's definitely not a traditional gothic romance. It's not sci-fi, but it has a focus on technology, its societal impact, and ethical questions that arise from it. Also, uh, financial drama if that's a subgenre? #FirstDraftFall #writing

sci fi/fantasy (urban fantasy mostly), speculative lgbt, action/adevnture
which is funny because i fucking hate writing fight scenes lol
Supernatural mystery...or is it actually a paranormal mystery? Wait, what makes supernatural different from paranormal!? Help! 😱
I'm already going ahead with murder mystery, like I've already said. To be honest, I don't think I've ever written a murder mystery before.
A2: YA teen romance! I guess it would be disability fiction as the subgenre. #FirstDraftFall #WeeknightWriters
dammit lmao I keep answering the questions one question ahead, somehow. okay. well. contemporary fantasy that may or may not have a cozy bent
My book is best described as X-Files influenced (female detective in an un-cozy thriller with mystery), but in this third and final entry of the trilogy it’s tipping towards a full urban fantasy. Which has been a challenge.
It's straight up fantasy with magic wands and everything.
It'll dip into action and dramedy, but fantasy is the primary genre.
A1: It’s going to be a hi-lo YA novella of 20,000 words! I’ve been wanting to do it for years. So, a teen romance, but very quirky because the author is very quirky. And it’s not a space opera! Actually humans on Earth at this time! #FirstDraftFall #WeeknightWriters
