📚 Sport is actually an area of lore I’d like to expand on for the #RadiumAge but I’ve yet to do so. I don’t really know why but I could see Eddy being pretty good at football/soccer ⚽️ to the point she’d likely end up carrying the team 😅

The door opened just enough for the intern, Samantha, to slip in. Young. Nervous. Holding a tablet like a shield.
"There's a call on line two," she said. "It's… uh. It's urgent."
I exhaled slowly. "Everything's urgent."
She hesitated. "The receptionist said you should take this one."
That never happened, and my pulse ticked up.
"Who is it?"
Samantha shook her head. "It didn't say. But—" She swallowed. "It's a collect call."
I froze, and the nauseous feeling hit harder with tsunami force.
"A what?"
"A collect call. From… from a correctional facility."

"Aftertaste" is a transformative achievement and takes it place among the pinnacle of the growing body of trans literature. Another impactful book I read this year is "Bad Habit" by Alana S. Portero, and I will be keeping "Aftertaste" in a place of honor next to it as a treasured literary memory. Remember, friends, you have to live. "Aftertaste" will help. It's a beautiful read that reminds us that we are beautiful too.

Raissa likes how determined (but not forceful) Ash is to help her escape the tower. Ash likes that Raissa doesn’t use her crown to be cruel to others.

Mare and Galina are a strong villain couple because they can match each other’s freak.

Before he could go on, they shook their head. “Don’t. I don’t want to hear any excuses for why you couldn’t care about all of them being treated like meat, not even the one you told me was your friend. I’m supposed to believe that it’s somehow different now? That doesn’t even make any sense, Jehani.” They tried to make for the door and his cowardice nearly let them go. At the last second, he grabbed their wrist, oh so gently. He needed them to stop, but wouldn’t hurt them to make it happen. They halted without turning to face him. Fine, he could deal with that. “Please, let me finish, and I swear it is the truth of the matter.” “Fine.” “I had a change of heart. I met this new Vintage, a beautiful young mortal who was wild and recalcitrant and absolutely rude the first time I saw them.” The anger he could feel vibrating through them, hear in their rapid pulse, ebbed just a little and he tried not to hope too much. “I got to know you in a way I didn’t even with Terrence. Who you are, what you think and feel.” He released their wrist and walked around face them. They were still mad enough to look away, yet when he laid a hand along their jaw and gently turned them back to look at him, they didn’t resist. Was that a hint of hope he saw trying to crowd out the anger in those beautiful eyes? He forced himself to go on. “I looked at the past, and the realities the future offered, and saw both with new eyes. I have regrets I didn’t before, but it’s so much more than that. I can’t bring myself to subject you to any part of it. As for your blood, it’s yours to share, or not, as you wish.”
