Jazz OTD: The brilliant vibraphonist Steve Nelson has led only a few albums; "Communications" is terrific, combining standards with a few originals (like this). Vrienden van de Blauwe Lucht! Vorige week kwam een nieuwe, opgepoetste stereoversie uit van Rubber Soul van The Beatles. Daarom: jazz-uitvoeringen van nummers van dat album en van andere Beatles-tracks. Geniet ervan! #JazzSky @listigeplaylists.bsky.social > open.spotify.com/playlist/1Hu...

Jazz OTD: Tenor saxophonist Sam Rivers recorded a string of Blue Note albums in the 1960s that are all excellent, with "New Conceptions" (recorded October 11, 1966) being all the remarkable for the way it predicts some of his "loft jazz" developments in the 1970s. Fabulous. #Jazzsky

Jazz OTD: Wayne Shorter was still very much developing as a tenor saxophonist and composer when he recorded his second (and long unreleased) album as leader, "Second Genesis" on October 11, 1960. With Cedar Walton (p), Bob Cranshaw (b), and Art Blakey (d). #Jazzsky
