Hi hi, #WeeknightWriters! Sorry I'm late. Kayfae here! Working on a far-future epic while continuing my SUMMER TO WINTER webcomic. Oooo, it's #FirstDraftFall Season again! Thanks for the reminder. My mind's been elsewhere
Hey everyone. I'm Scarlett Chase, an indie Romance author. The pre production for my WIP is done and I'm a little over 6k words in. But I'm moving at the beginning of November so writing is on hold while packing has begun. #WeeknightWriters #FirstDraftFall
I'm a word count guy, and I always aim for 100k total. It feels like the sweet spot for book length
Word count definitely. It's what has always worked for me and why fix it if I don't need to? lol
Adding a "has brain exploded y/n" check to the end of every day feels like a good plan in general, not just for #FirstDraftFall
So close to splodey this year though! Will try not to make them splodey. #FirstDraftFall #WeeknightWriters

so usually im in a "fuck it we ball" kind of deal when im writing but because im *actually* trying to become a self published author by spring/summer 2027 ill be measuring by page count and hours spent.
#WeeknightWriters Q3: I'm going with "get words on the page every day" for progress, trying to be gentle with myself in the aftermath of burnout & in the midst of All The Things happening work/family/otherwise. I don't want to give myself a goal I'll feel guilty about not meeting. #FirstDraftFall
#WeeknightWriters A3: For #FirstDraftFall, I track word count, for sure, because I already have a spreadsheet to track word count across all my projects and can update it whenever I remember to transcribe the current word count of a work. The others feel like more work.
#WeeknightWriters A3
I usually measure my writing in word count, don't see a reason to change it for #FirstDraftFall
Tentatively aiming for 20,000 words
Word count. I'll be aiming for the 50k (since I'm doing NovNov as well as #FirstDraftFall) but finishing the draft would be nice too. (I'm thinking this'll probably end up between 85-100k.)
word count. the word processor I'm using seems unsure of its own page count and I do not think I would do a good job measuring my time spent. #FirstDraftFall #writing

Word count please! I'm aiming to get aroun 20-24k total. I'm thinking this story is going to be broken into parts, which are small novellas that people can easily read.
A3: I will measure it by word count! Or maybe also by checking to see if my burnt out brain has exploded. Like:
“5000 words so far, brain still not exploded.”
I'm currently at about 6,000 words. I don't really plan for this to be a long story, more like a scrapbook novella. There'll be tables, lists, and intentionally crude drawings.
word count, but also hopefully in doneness lol. it would incredible to have a completed draft by the end of this since I plan to draft starting this month, but we'll see
Q3: Will you be measuring your progress in word count, page count, or hours spent working on your #FirstDraftFall project? #WeeknightWriters

I struggle a lot with this, literary sci-fi with some horror overtones? (I hate using literary as a modifier), people have suggested bio-punk, upmarket, and slipstream previously.
