It was a very grey day. And I felt like the company I was in did not much appreciate me. The photo is also very grey. There in a single frame is - a grey ghost (a Northern harrier) flying in from the left, and near the center of the frame is a lovely white-and-grey kite perched on a bushy but bare bush atop a drab green hillock. In the background are waves of drab green grass interspersed with barren grey ground below a blotchy grey sky. And yet. A harrier! A kite! Doing what they do best. Eating up the landscape.

Four Birds in the Morning Light "On a patch of sun‑washed grass, four birds gather in a loose, gentle formation. Two geese stand in the foreground, both facing left, their bodies angled as if they’re about to begin a slow, purposeful walk in the same direction. Their plumage is a mix of warm browns and soft whites, with dark, elegant necks that curve forward. Their orange legs press into the grass, giving them a grounded, steady look.
