Oh no...
No oceans mid-story, but the water contains salt.

In both series, I talk about the Puget Sound.

In Resist, the Sound has taken over and Seattle is under water (so are you, Bellevue😮‍💨). Not much is visible beyond a few of the very tall buildings.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders I haven't yet, but the main city in a couple of my books is sitting on a massive dock to lakes that empty into oceans, one large cargo tunnel connects two lakes under a mountain. But I did draw a Mer-May thing with one of my main demons from book two #SongOfTheDevilstorm

This is a general map for the city of Alabandrin, primary area in at least the first two books of my Song of the Devilstorm series. It sits in a valley between two mountain chains. It is constructed as a circle amphitheater with a 3% grade down to the center, which is raised 150 feet. In each cardinal direction, a highway stretches out from the central raised area to the edges of the city. Each of the 25 rings of roads are 200 feet across. There is a lazy river under the city, fed by surrounding rivers, which is publically accessible for entertainment and romantic events. East region outside the city is a large lake with access to the ocean. There is a tunnel under the southeast mountain range that allows for boat travel to the ocean, guarded by one of the six castles at each entrance. Roads extend out from all four main exits of the city, but the eastern road is a bridge that extends over the lake to the nearest landmass off of this map. Updated with colored zoning areas within the city. This is my demon OC with a concept twist in honor of Mer-May, my first entry into this particular event. My demon OC messes with a water temple during May, their month of power, gets caught and is punished by being transformed into a Merfolk of the Orca flavor. This red demon has half of their body magically modified into the black and white body of a male orca (tall thin fin) with a few elements that still marks him as a demon. The scene is in a clear blue ocean near the surface, sunlight streaming down into the darker water.

In Prophecy 72, the four MCs fall from the sky and land on a pirate ship, and are forced to fight for their lives; this scene is where their teamwork and love for each other really comes together.

I have not yet written a seaside scene. Davenz is (mostly) separated from the coast by Arum. Seyzharel is landlocked. Tymirin is on a river, not an ocean.

Eventually it could happen.

I haven't really written any seaside scenes, yet, although I am planning something along those lines in my current project, if not until the third book. That said, I think Weslea will enjoy the beach. Despite living 🧵

The ocean is a massively important aspect of Savage as You. Hailey's terrified of deep water due to some sort of incident that happened at the beach, she won't go anywhere near deep water of any kind. But in Lin J'Roe, she can't really decide what she sees....

a lot of my stray writing with Kalua and Betti takes place on the coastline. But a section of the Brynn story does too! (book 5 eventually, maybe?)

They stared out onto the island proper. It was generally flat and as far as they could see, not much was ahead of them. There might have been patch of forest a distance away, but it was hard to gauge from where they were standing. There weren’t any other obvious structures to target and the group looked to Asta for her decision.
Asta would have relied on Kalua, but this was her task and she felt his eyes on her while she tried to make a decision. To him, this decision was obvious and should be simple for her. In fact, he assumed everyone would come to the same conclusion. “We’ll head in the direction of the trees. We can at least use it for cover and maybe find something useful there.” She received a slight nod from Kalua and she smiled in relief.
The group reached the edge of the beach where the sand started to blend with grasses and that was where everything went awry.
Asta was chatting with Tibi when Tibi stopped speaking mid-sentence and stopped altogether. She turned around and found that Kalua was the only one slightly behind them.
“Kalua, where are the others?” Asta felt a wave of panic and was doing her best to keep it repressed.
“I was going to ask you the same thing. I bent down to fix my boot and when I looked up, you two were the only ones here.” Kalua looked around. There was nothing around them as far as he could see and he felt like they weren’t really as far as they should have been after the hour or so they had walked.

We're on the third week of September already! #SeptemberWorldbuilders, this week's theme is the OCEAN. This is less of a worldbuilding question and more of a chance for you to talk about a scene in your story. Have you written any seaside scenes?

The background image shows a pink moon on the horizon of a sandy beach. There's a single mountain in the background. The image gives off vibes of peace and serenity and a little bit of magic

#SeptemberWorldbuilders At one point, Rhadmin smells mintberry brandy on the breath of one of his interrogators. It soon occurs to him, however, that anyone can wash his mouth with strong-smelling booze and pretend to be drunk to get someone to let their guard down.

My characters enjoy low alcohol 'table wine' with their meals. An expensive export into Northern Omera (where the first book is set) is coffee, so Thalia gets to enjoy that. It's not to her liking because she normally has milky tea.

Then there's beer, water, the usual.

There's a few named farms on my map. Most farms grow multiple crops, Tekton Coffee being an exception — it just grows coffee, an expensive luxury.

Orchards must be a thing because I mention apples and olives as staples. The ENTIRE coastline is fished.

Broad Bend is well known for making the best apple cider in all of Davenz and Arum. Both fermented and not.

In the Empire they have a great variety of alcoholic drinks (most famously, sugarcane liquor), but they also have coffee (extra expensive) and chocolate (hyper expensive), as well as wide variety of fruit juices.

Water is consumed a lot. As are date wine, ale, and mead, depending on the area. Honeyed water and fruit juice are popular in some regions.

Beverages aren't that different from our world. There's some juices that are different from our world, but in Port Tundari, the most common beverages are goat milk, grape juice, wine, and beer

There’s quite a few drinks available on Nixtral. Early on, water and alcoholic spirits like whiskey & ale are the most common.

Once carbonation is discovered, Nixtral develops the fizzy, their take on our own sodas made with fruit juices & sugar cane.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Definitely wines, which on The Island are not only made from grapes, & come in every color. There's also honey wine & liquors made from strawberry, duckberry, or rayberry. Of course, there are juices, bitterberry (coffee) & vegetable "milks".

Redwood tukhé are masters of "tea", but 𝐶𝑎𝑚𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑎 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑠, while present, is merely a bit player. The caffeine it imparts to drinks is just one facet of a profoundly multifaceted infusion / decoction paradigm.
