I modified my rnsf #rstats package so now it's easy to install (piggyback package helps with the large cache). Has public info on all NSF grants since 1960.

Bergograms by region, grant change by state, subject changes, etc

Bergogram (line plot by day of year) of number of awards by region in each of the past few years versus past years. All regions had declines, though the South fared better than the others.Plot of change of funding per state. A few states have experienced an increase but most have experienced substantial decreases.Line plot of grants awarded per day this year and past years. We are entering what historically has been a fallow period.

This week's #TidyTuesday is about hospitals in urban centres, from the EU's JRC. The data has quality problems, so I plotted the counts themselves instead. 95% of the counts are even, which suggests hospitals are counted twice.

Code: github.com/gkaramanis/t...

#RStats #dataviz

Two charts side by side under the title "Two hospitals, or none*", with a subtitle about data from the EU's Joint Research Centre. On the left, a bar chart of urban centres by their number of hospitals, from 1 to 32. Even numbers have much taller bars than odd ones. Two hospitals is the most common count at 1,982 urban centres, followed by four at 1,080, six at 677 and eight at 379. No odd number has more than 26. There is no bar at 1, marked with an arrow and the text "No urban centre has a single hospital". A second label reads "95% of hospital counts are even". On the right, one horizontal bar per region, with thickness showing how many urban centres the region has. Each bar is split into a blue part for urban centres with a hospital count and a grey part for those without. The blue share is smallest in Central and Southern Asia at 30%, then Sub-Saharan Africa at 47% and Eastern and South-Eastern Asia at 52%. It is largest in Europe at 95%.

webrarian is a new R package. It turns a folder of R scripts and data into a static website where R runs in the visitor's browser, with no compute server and nothing to install.

#rstats #webr #webassembly

A card for the R package webrarian. Large text reads "A folder in. A website out." On the left, a small card lists a folder named lab-01 holding lab.R, setup.R and a data folder. A red arrow points from it to a browser window that shows a scatterplot of car weight against miles per gallon with brick-red points. The address coatless-wasm.github.io/webrarian is on the card.

I recently became a dad, which is the most wonderful experience I've... experienced!

But it's been no bed of roses 🎵 No pleasure cruise 🎶👑

It is no news that a baby disrupts parents' sleep. Well, I share my evidence of that with a #dataviz

Still worth it!!!💙👶
