Tah Tien (1973) Today's theme is horror movies made in Thailand. This one is more of a curiosity. It's utterly ridiculous with the giant frog that sounds like a human baby. Just enjoy. Sorry, there aren't any English subtitles, but it's still hilarious. #Thai #folkhorror #horror #horrormovies

A haunting, nearly monochromatic folk-horror scene depicts six eerie young girls standing shoulder to shoulder on a narrow dirt path within a dead cornfield. They wear old-fashioned, ankle-length dresses in faded shades of gray, cream, and black, their clothing stained and weathered as though they have wandered the fields for years. Their pale faces are darkened around the eyes and mouths, giving them hollow, corpse-like expressions. Several have long braids or tangled hair hanging over their shoulders. The central girl stands slightly forward in a light-colored buttoned dress, staring directly toward the viewer. Behind the children towers a crude scarecrow constructed from branches, rope, dried vegetation, and shredded cloth. Its outstretched wooden arms span the image above them. A roughly formed pale head with deep black eye sockets crowns the figure, while sharp twigs radiate around its neck and shoulders. Tall, brittle corn stalks crowd both sides of the path beneath a heavy gray sky, enclosing the children and scarecrow in a bleak rural landscape. The symmetrical arrangement and muted tones give the scene the unsettling appearance of an old photograph discovered somewhere it should not have survived.

Deep in the Alaskan wilderness, a wrong has been committed.
After a severely injured mother loses her children to arrogant hunters, she slowly goes crazy and fixes her sites on revenge.
But what’s a little murderous rampage when you have nothing left to lose?

Just watched Blood Shine (2026), an independent, low-budget #horror film that starts well, gets bogged down for about 40 minutes, then has quite a fun final 20. It's not great, but has enough #folkhorror, #bodyhorror and creepy #cult bits to keep it reasonably entertaining 🩸🔪.

Over 30-odd #folkhorror films three traits keep showing up. Enough that we reckon they're closer to a definition than the genre usually gets. We've also decided the Unholy Trinity has had its day. A first draft of a Grand Unified Theory of Folk Horror?

It's always surprising that someone somewhere had picked up my book, read and enjoyed it, and then took the time to review it. A recent one from Goodreads is honest, thorough. Glad they haven't given away the twist 😅. #FolkHorror #cosmichorror #folkhorrorrevival #britishhorror

Anthologie) kommen 😀

Häxan (1922) sits proudly at the summit of horror history, avant garde cinema and occult lore. It is a foundational work of horror and witchcraft lore. The film caused immediate, volcanic controversy across Europe. #darkfantasy #folkhorror #horror #horrormovies #horrorsky #horrorjunkie

Some of my favorite books to read and write blend #folklore, #folkhorror, and #Darkfantasy into one terrifying tale. Here are some authors that are masters of the craft of #DarkFantasyHorror
