Five days later… and the paparazzi finally released the evidence that we were actually at the #EuropeanResearcherNight to promote our #crowdfunding campaign!

You, too, can help us better understand the impact of #ClimateChange on #MentalHealth. Support our […]

One young man and three women over 40 are sitting together on a towel in a park. They are all pointing toward a poster promoting their crowdfunding campaign. In the foreground, there are children’s books about climate change and several plush toys.

Spotted a confused, pear tree this morning, flowering on 1st October, when it should be preparing for a nice, dormant winter. 🧪 🌱 #plants #gardening #flowers #climatechange

New publication: Tolerance for #heatstress in #Lemnaminor reflects both local adaptation and acclimation over time, by @marioblancosanchez.bsky.social @kjfverhoeven.bsky.social. #climatechange
doi.org/10.1016/j.en...

Figure 1 in Blanco-Sánchez et al. (2026): "a) Source locations of the 18 clonal lines studied. Clonal lines are represented by different colors that reflect variation in temperature of origin, with slight adjustments to color palette to enhance visualization (i.e., warmer vs cooler colors denote lines from warmer vs cooler locations; see Table 1). This palette is maintained throughout all figures; b) Schematic representation of the experimental design. Eighteen Lemna minor clonal lines were grown under four constant temperature treatments (18 °C, 23 °C, 28 °C, and 33 °C), with two replicates per line and temperature, for five consecutive weeks (N = 720 experimental units). Each week, the relative growth rate (RGR) of each replicate was calculated from the change in total plant area over seven days; c) Spatial arrangement of jars within each growth chamber (see Methods for spatial blocking details). The first replicate of each line was randomly assigned to a 4 × 5 grid (block), and this arrangement was mirrored laterally in a second spatial block, creating an 8 × 5 grid such that each line had one replicate positioned near the chamber walls and one in the inner area, thereby balancing light exposure and any other spatial effects. Different clonal lines are represented with different colors, matching those in panel a)."

Climate change-related stressors in the Lake Chad region contribute to existing tension and conflict between different communities by exacerbating scarcity of natural resources, including land, water and food.

Scientist, inventor & women's rights campaigner Eunice Foote died #OTD in 1888.

She was the first to demonstrate the greenhouse effect (heat-absorbing properties) of carbon dioxide (CO2), laying the scientific groundwork for #climatechange research.

#WomenInSTEM

A warm-toned, sepia-style artistic illustration depicting Eunice Newton Foote, a 19th-century American scientist, viewed from behind in a softly lit laboratory setting. She stands facing away from the viewer, her back to us, wearing a period-appropriate mid-19th-century dress with puffed short sleeves, an off-the-shoulder neckline, and a full skirt. Her dark hair is styled in an elegant updo with soft curls and a decorative comb or ribbon at the back. She holds an open scientific notebook or paper in both hands at chest height, reading it attentively. The background shows a detailed Victorian-era lab interior with wooden shelves, glass apparatus including tall cylinders and tubes, a bell jar, a thermometer or barometer-like instrument, and other scientific equipment on tables and walls, evoking a sense of quiet discovery and early experimental science. Drawing by Carlyn Iverson, NOAA.

Went to an #IHPI #climatechange #health event and interesting projects. One by a #nephrologist was about #kidneydisease and #climatechange which disproportionately affects GOP counties

So of course #CDC would not allow researchers to use words “climate change” and have to use “ambient temperature”
