#SongsofSeptember Day 10: I'm way behind, but I love this prompt game so I'm going to be self-indulgent & let myself answer! I apologize, but I need this right now. 😆

I have so many (full playlist below), but for a fun one, I'll go with "Temptation Waits" by Garbage: link.deezer.com/s/34teL03wSu...

#SongsOfSeptember 22. I haven't created instruments from scratch (my mind is very much not musical), but I've made some changes to a few existing ones. Mileena's dào chán is an example, which is a modified dan bau from Vietnam.

Most of the instruments we see are Asian* 🧵

On YelNi, the ParDafi have a flute-like instrument called the zith. It's fashioned from crystals found in the caves and produces a hollow sounding, mournful sound.

They feature prominently in the Eclipse Ceremony.

There aren't any unique instruments, though just know that our lovely girly-pop drummer TJ would go nuts for PVC tubes like this:

Unless you count Aztec death whistles literally summoning dead/undead to you vastly unusual, not much is 'unique' from modern day. Have some background lazer-synth in Kanon Wakeshima's "Kuroi Torikago": youtu.be/Jc9tPXBoJpA?... for some young Anna lore with wild instrumentation.

There definitely are unique instruments in Xenacanthis, but Dylan (I) wasn't around long enough to learn and explore though. ^^;

However there's a moment that [REDACTED] shouts something in another language and Dylan instinctively understands it would sound clearer underwater.

There aren't any unique instruments in Unbroken, but I have been enjoying a lot of NiNi's stuff while I've been writing lately. Her cover of The Sound of Silence on ruan and erhu feels particularly fitting to one section of the story.

Balaricio has the kytchime nuts, which make a nice melody almost like chimes in the wind~

...though if Emily's not careful, they may sound too much like the sound of a strange bell that haunts her mind~

#SongsOfSeptember Day 22

Are there any unique instruments or sounds to your story's setting?

A made up instrument? A special sound in some region? A traditional instrument in a real world setting? The floor is yours, so talk about what you think fits best for your story~

I feel like Emily is the bad, bad girlfriend #SongsofSeptember
