Wagerechte Grossaufnahme einer hellblauen Akkeleiblüte. Die Blüte schaut nach links unten. Man kann die gelbgrauen Staubgefässe sehen. Eine 2. Blüte ist unscharf links oben etwas weiter hinten zu sehen. Ein unscharfer blauer Rand deutet recht unten im Vordergrund eine weitere an. One of the last wildflowers blooming here as the weather cools, the Common Dayflower (Commelina communis) is a hardy introduction. Also known as the Asiatic Dayflower, reflecting its origin.

Common Dayflower (Commelina communis), which has three petals like our native Virginia Dayflower (Commelina virginica), but the third petal at the bottom is vestigial, being small and colorless.

A square, hard-edged abstract composition. A band of deep blue crosses the top of the picture. It descends further on the left than on the right, so the pale field beneath it rises higher on the right side. Below, two soft, mottled sky-blue fields meet at a vertical seam about one-third of the way across; the left field is slightly deeper and greyer than the right. Left of center, a vertical rectangle bridges the dark band and the light field below it. Its upper section is saturated golden yellow and its lower section a pale butter yellow. A near-black strip flanks it on the left, and on the right a navy strip ends in a softly rounded lower corner. Acrylic on watercolor paper, 11" x 11".

A square, hard-edged abstract composition built from overlapping circles and rectangles in a range of blues, from pale sky blue to deep cobalt. Left of center and low in the picture, a large pale, almost white disc with a small navy hole at its center sits over a larger deep blue circle. That circle curves around the disc's top and right side like a shadow or an eclipse. In the upper right, a mid-blue circle is cropped by the top and right edges. Along the left edge, a pale blue curved form is cut off by the frame. Vertical bands of deep blue run down both sides and across the top left corner. Two small squares of warm color punctuate the cool field: a golden yellow square in the upper left, with a thin dark line dropping below it, and a red-orange square at the right, set against a deep blue band. The pale fields show soft, mottled, cloud-like brushwork, and a thin white sliver appears at the bottom left edge. Acrylic on watercolor paper, 11" x 11".

On the other side of the trail from the heron I posted, there were late wildflowers blooming and the marsh was showing some early fall colors (Assabet River NWR, Maynard, Massachusetts - 9/23/26) 💙🍂🌲
