Somewhat unforelookedly, I got called to Lady-Captain’s stallroom. There I found not only her but also Master-Captain Dosuesh. With them stood Krastaes, whom I had overcome in the foot-trial’s prize. When I asked what became, Krastaes knelt and laid axe at my foot. Then he spoke he found me a doughty and cunning warrior, and that he would forelook to see my worth in battle. Then he foreyielded to follow me and cleave my flag.

His word took me aback, and I stammered I own no flag. He answered he would nevertheless follow as my sworn axe. While Master-Captain grinned, Lady-Captain bemarked this an odd happendom, for she told I am no wife but maiden. Krastaes answered that is an easy riddle, which got laughter from the Captains, against themselves, and made me blush hotly.

Captain Dosuaesh eyed shrewdly and spoke he had heard that others had besought my ladyship, which to his mind raises inthrifty lookforth. He then asked whether I wish to stay maiden. I answered yes for now. Then he wondered what may mean if a maiden leads her own flag. Lady-Captain cast him a queer look, though he yielded not. At last, they deemed they should talk later and with others, and gave me leave.

Krastaes followed me outside. I started to chide him. Yet he said he would be honored to fight under me. In shyness I knew not what to say. He bowed and left.

I knew, if I would win, that I must break his will. When the marshals waved start, I looked into his mind and thrust his brow, straight on his helm’s brim. It struck true.

Krastaes grinningly acknowledged the blow. Yet then shoved my spear aside, tangled it with axe and shield, and sent me spinning to regain freedom.

Twelve times we came together, and four times each hit, and another four we double-hit. Then we stood gasping while the marshals yaysaid the blow-tally. I weighed my odds and reckoned I must beat him soon.

So when start yelled, I showingly thrust low, knelt, and raised tip under his shield. Cunningly he sidled even while he hastened in ere I reset. Yet I bothered not to try and instead kicked his gut, which was no right hit. Yet it withstood him back, which gave a heartbeat to half-choke. I knocked his helm, right ere his shield knocked me off foot.

The marshals yelled halt and swiftly read. Yet already the crowd buzzed. Then they lifted my hand, and the din greatened eightfold.

I cannot well bewrite my unsoothness standing before Lady-Mother, who set the prize-crown on my brow, while nighmost the whole city yelled for me - oddly ~Shaemore~ - Warrior-Queen, the school nickname I had so hated. Yet now it is wolder’s token. Next I wared, Raeonyl and Shill shoutingly clutched me. Then Semuane flew into my arms. She joked it well I had won, for thus her own loss under my blade had lessened, whereat we all laughed.

Today is the first day of the Motorae, the days between years. In childhood, I heard a tale that the Motorae are the tide when Burning-Mother leaves her heavenly palace to run wild with Father-Night. Yet it is known that it is needed to make the monthlog fit the year. Since now is a long year, the Motorae are three days instead of two.

About the Motorae, some talewags say that all bonds are waived, no laws hold, and Korasha may freely slake themselves on any Damaya they wish. Maybe some wantons among the meanfolk do so, though I know none.

I will begin with yestereve when we held our wontful duskmeal with us six, Semuane and her shieldbearer, and also my brother and sister Shill and Raeonyl. It was a good wise to end Oldyear, which we did with toasts of our new beloved meadbrandy and gave sips to the children, along with the best Swiftreaver cutlings. Semuane also brought the blackcake Remaue and I crave so dearly. Semuane also praised her two grooms, whom she told have worked hard and well to make their sister proud. When the drink made them sleepy, Remaue and I led them to the Citadel and put them abed, and then came back to where the grownups dallied. I misgave I had the Games amorrow.

This morn at foredawn, I woke feeling empty but clear-headed and freshened, as if mind-grounded. Remaue and Semuane rose with me and helped dress. Then we kissed Semuane good-day and headed to the Citadel, for we had ahead a long day.
Token art of my orc for my triumph of the tusk pathfinder 2e campaign. she's yelling at the viewer with a ferocious look. She has massive tusks and she's waving a big tetsubo over her head.
The barbarian shouts "Rawr!" as it charges a tentacled horror. The bard plays a flute to empower them, but toots with concern as tentacles threaten him for the other side of the battlefield.
