I liked Nikita Zozlov's music and his 3Lz was quite pretty, but oof, his spins were rough. #JGPFigure

Of all Brian Orser's students, past and present, Grayson Long skates the most like him. Today was a struggle technically but oh, that step sequence was beautiful. #JGPFigure

Daniel Ruis out there skating in a pair of skinny jeans, t-shirt and a vest. The discrepancy between men's and women's costumes in this sport is so stark. #JGPFigure

I was right! The referee stopped the program to check if he'd hit his head and make sure he was okay! The thing we always yell at them to do actually happened! #JGPFigure

Also, his hair is AMAZING. #JGPFigure

Lots of struggles today, but Rahul Ravindran really emotes as a skater. I hope he gets the chance to really grow stronger technically over the next few years. #JGPFigure

Matias Heinonen has some clear potential and lovely spins. #JGPFigure

Kind of dozed off during Raul Ravindran's (🇦🇺) short program and... sorry... his music selection not for me.
Hope he does better in the free on Saturday.

Yehor Kurtsev's first two jumps were STUNNING. He needs to work on his spins and skating skills, but 3A and 3Lz were glorious. #JGPFigure

Great short from Yehor Kurtsev (🇺🇦) who's going to soar into first place with many more to go.
#JGPFigure

Bad luck with lutzes in this group! Furkan Emre Incel has lovely spins. I wonder if he was at any of the seminars Deniss did in Turkey. #JGPFigure

Second group starts off with Matteo Marchioni (🇮🇹) who started off hot with the Triple Axel and then... just struggled rest of the way.
After him was Furkan Emre Incel (🇹🇷) and... was expecting better from him.
His mentalness kind of caused him the short despite going clean.
#JGPFigure

First clean 3A of the day for Matteo Marchioni, and his first one in international competition! Then, alas, problems on his next two jumping passes but that axel was GORGEOUS. #JGPFigure

Kirk really telegraphs his jumps, especially the 3A which definitely didn't make it all the way around.

The 3Lo3Lo is a cool combo, I wish he'd managed it clean. #JGPFigure

Vladislav Churakov's shirt is AMAZING. His spins...a bit less so. Nice level 4 step sequence! #JGPFigure

Despite the error on the Triple Axel, that was an amazing short from Kirk Haugeto (🇺🇲).
Won't take the lead but he has the potential to be a top skater in the near future.
#JGPFigure

Great job from Donghan Yu picking the program up after the music interruption. That was a really, really rough fall on the 3A.

On replay he DEFINITELY hit his head hard on that fall. I'm slightly wondering if that's what was up with the music interruption. #JGPFigure

Think that's the same short program he had last year.
Despite me saying that, great short program from Vladislav Churakov (🇪🇪).
Once he gets that triple axel in, he'll be off the charts.
Again, great performance.

Razvan Cionac has all the components of becoming a lovely skater, he just has to put it all together. Particularly impressive considering he is literally the only man competing internationally for Romania in juniors or seniors. #JGPFigure
