A small Song Sparrow with a streaky dark brown and black back and tail, white chest with dark streaks that form a central spot on the breast, a mix of reddish-brown and gray stripes on the head with a gray eyebrow line and a dark stripe on the side of the throat, and pinkish legs and feet. This bird was puffed up and looking very round as it perched on a brown branch of a tree in the early morning sunlight. There were more brown branches and many green leaves in the background. Seen at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Concord, Massachusetts.
An adult little blue heron stands amidst dense, sun-dappled marsh grasses and shallow water. The bird is captured in profile, showcasing its deep purplish-blue plumage, elongated neck, and a sharp, dark bill. Bright sunlight filters through the green wetland vegetation, creating a sparkling bokeh effect in the background.
A female Gadwall, facing to the right, swims serenly on a pond that is completely covered in bright green algal bloom. Dead branches of a tree rise vertically out of the water in the background. The duck has grey/brown mottled plumage with darker more brown colouring across her wings, back, and tail. She has a dark eye stripe across a dark coloured eye and an orange bill with a grey stripe running down the middle.
A narrow dirt trail curves through a shaded deciduous forest, edged with dense green maple saplings and tall thin tree trunks. On the right sits an empty white metal bench with a forest scene cut into its backrest, surrounded by brown fallen leaves.

Green leaves and a raceme of unripe poke berries. They will plump up and turn purple. Birds like them, but the plant is toxic to us.
