Got randomly reminded of this #SEGA #MegaDrive / #Genesis game earlier and the warm fuzzy nostalgia feelings flooded in.

SKITCHIN' is basically ROAD RASH on rollerblades. I can remember playing this for hours and hours back in the day.

FOBIA: ST. DINFNA HOTEL was a game that enticed my with the cover alone, but I didn't take the jump to playing until a few weeks ago, with a check on other reviews convincing me to give it a go. Thrust into a mystery spanning multiple time periods, the mystery unravels as you explore, discover new rooms, enemies, locations, and the usual mix of documents and items. What sets this apart from a lot of the lower-budget FPS horror fare are the awesome graphics, the (mostly) great voice-acting, and the level of tension it creates, which genuinely borders on unbearable at times. Ammo is scarce, health items are scarce, and the enemies are tough, though luckily they are relatively scarce also. It is the sense of dread that there COULD be an enemy around the corner that will get you more than the enemy itself. The game doesn't have a wide variety of foes, but in the context of the story, that makes perfect sense. That said, the developers did a great job of making things gloopy and disgusting. One game mechanic that is ingeniously implemented is a camera you find early on. It not only gives you a night-vision view, but in certain areas it shows you what an environment looked like in the past. This not only adds additional context to the story, it also unblocks areas that are inaccessible in the present day. The titular hotel is ten floors of intricate level design as you can't just navigate floor to floor. There are certain paths, such as needing to go to level six from level five to get to level four. Trust me, it makes sense when you get to grips with the layout. You don't have an in-game map, so you do have to rely on your memory a lot (or have a notepad to hand to jot things down), while you can upgrade your weapons to better handle the enemies you do cross paths with. At the £2.99 price I paid (thanks to a sale), this was an absolute bargain, and one I wholeheartedly recommend you give a go. 8.5/10
