Nice, sunny wander at Branscombe today with leafmines of Ectoedemia erythrogenella (Coast Dot) on Bramble, and Stigmella ulmivora (Barred Elm Dot) & S. viscerella (Plain Elm Dot) on elm. Plus bonus sighting (but no photo) of my first ever UK Long-tailed Blue butterfly. #teammoth

A wander on Cromford Moor with the family this afternoon. A few mines found (thanks @willowglass12.bsky.social for confirming), lots of fungi, and a nice little colony of Ivy Bees #TeamMoth #bees #fungi

Only 48 moths of 23 species last night BUT a first Southern Brindled Green and a first Merveille du Jour to make up for it 😍

I have just spent the last half hour enjoying looking at today’s 2 Merveille du Jours. Love how they are different sizes, colours and patterns. As lots of you have also said I don’t think I will ever tire of looking at them! #teammoth

On 21st September I found some larval spinnings of Tebenna micalis (Beautiful Twitcher) on Fleabane at Pembrey (Carmarthenshire). I collected a few for rearing and over the last few days three of the beautiful little jewel-like adults have emerged.

Went ‘foraging’ for more leaf mines today.
Finally found myself some mines of Stigmella tiliae, as well as a mine of Stigmella viscerella.
Both new for SJ84 💪😄

Lydd on Sea VC15, on a night that started mild, but grew more chilly towards dawn, there were the usual Autumn species across the three traps. The standout moth of the night was this really fresh looking Small Marbled. Still no special Wainscot!!

A rather 'dull grey moth' but looking closer there are markings & hints of rusty brown. Is this #PoorPhotograph enough for #TeamMoth to confirm my tentative identification of Acleris sparsana? @mothiduk.bsky.social #Yorkshire #HumberheadLevels #MothsMatter

Possible Acleris sparsana. Actinic trap 3/4 October 2026.

Really surprised that even in my suburban new build in Chichester I’ve got to 100 species of moth in just a couple of months of trapping. And #100 was the best so far, a truly stunning Merveille du Jour! What a spectacular creature! #teammoth #ukmoths #sussexmoths

Been slow going lately, but these 3 nfy were a welcome addition to the garden year list last night. Garden year list now on 446. ##TeamMoth
