Everyone in the City of Gates has the same employer!

They all serve the temple of Niona, god of travel, who runs and empowers the city as the hub of her teleportation network.

It isn't that bad, as employers go. As long as people have faith, Niona will make sure they are cared for🧵

Behold the Captain of Industry, Camazotz, The Demon Bat. The biggest contributor to Tzin City next to Xolotl.

He houses everyone (Xolotl requires it) and his Black Mill Industries are the source of osseocrete, responsible for all buildings down here.

#Septopolis so there are a few main industries.

The railyard is the main source of employment - it's run by a friend of the mayor's and the pay is trash.

The next biggest employer is the city watch. This is... not a great indicator of political freedom.

The most dominant industries in Arcadia are electronics, energy, education, and entertainment, with other fields of science and engineering close behind. These industries combined form the backbone of the community, and for good reason.

#TheDragonblood: Well, we've got the portal hub and airship industry, that handle the importation of goods and the transportation of people to and from the city. And there's whoever's in charge of keeping the city in the air. If they go under, the whole city comes crashing down.

#TheDragonblood: Zonhaspalis doesn't produce much of its own in terms of raw materials. But it does produce a lot of tourism!

We've talked a decent amount already about what has to be imported. Water, food, magic, to name just a few. Pretty much all the basic resources.

#TheDragonblood: Zonhaspalis, we've said, is a pretty expensive place to live, populated mostly by the rich. So, there's medical care and education, and they're top notch, but they're also expensive.

Aside from Liege Hessa, the provincial governor and owner of the vast majority of the mines, Ulen is also run by an upper class who own the logistics businesses and other commodities. A mercenary force called the Grekaan is slowly expanding its economic influence by recruiting the

A21. The major players in Sesina are steampunk technology, the arts and culture sector, trade + agriculture. The arts and culture sector has been having a boom w The Alchemist Guild heading it. The River Guild heads technology while looking into the arts as well. Proxy war in the making #Septopolis

A21. As mentioned before, the small town Ancus major industry is zephrite or z-rock, essentially the fuel for airships. This is ran by a business owner hoping to be sold into a noble family's guild. The locals (all Hepici immigrants) feel some type of way about this. (2/?)

A21. OOOOOoooooh boy-- so! There's a bunch of competing guilds and tradesmen who are funded by either nobles or otherwise wealthy folks. The guilds function as an umbrella for small businesses in the empire. Each guild is required by law to have a union.

Even planning ahead the depth of this one has caught me off guard. 🦈

The Great Clans of Lariz run most businesses. The Hands of Nchdemmat are almost exclusively owned by Clan Adramaq, who hold monopoly over the city's metallurgical industry.

Clan Lirich runs local agriculture, as well as the distilling and brewing businesses.

Very strictly speaking, it’s the Keeper. They are the city’s de jure mayor while also owning of the city’s gates, docks, and having sole power to charter companies and collect portions of their revenues. Nothing happens in the city without the Keeper getting a cut. 🧵

People never feel so trapped in work that they never take time off (in addition to a healthy schedule of municipal holidays).

Most community leaders will still be private businessmen, but city work is considered good, honest Everyman work that keeps society running.
