Remembering Dieter Stappert, born #OnThisDay in 1942.

Stappert was the Sporting Director at BMW Motorsport from 1980 till 1985, responsible for BMW's F1 program. He created the BMW Junior Team, bringing the likes of Marc Surer, Eddie Cheever and Manfred Winkelhock through the ranks.

The African Grand Prix, held in Rwanda, is set to be added to the F1 calendar early in the 2030s.
