I want a sentence, not mine, absolved,” I offered, folding my hands on the table. He blinked at me, and Mister Sky turned to me, unsure of my sanity. There was a good reason I hadn’t told him about this. I didn’t know if it were possible. “Name the being,” Doctor Tragedy responded without hesitation. Mister Sky turned to him, lips parted, and eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Beryx, The General of the Council of Fire.”

Slow day working on 'Her Pride' 3 pages edited and 62 words removed.
Sharp pain in my right arm, so no artwork, and it's why the editing count was low.

Very much still a WIP but nearly there on second spooky one-shot. “You shut up.” Sean grabbed the taller man’s collar, forcing him to lean in closer. Suna giggled and they froze, turning back to her. The warmth of her amusement burst over their faces, along with their own embarrassment, as they straightened up quickly. “I heard a mermaid’s kiss can save you from drowning.” Sean almost groaned at Mac’s cheesy flirting. But Suna kept smiling at them. As long as she kept smiling, he’d support anything Mac blurted. “Is that so? Are you drowning?” Suna teased. “I really think we might be,” Sean replied. “I will jump in this lake right now,” Mac said at the same time. Suna laughed. She laughed a bright, sharp series of laughs that broadened her whole face.

Grimdark Weird West but it had my earmarks even then: an ace MC, a devil's contract, loopholes, etc.

I decided, finally, I didn't want to spend more time in that depressing world.

Depends when. Ata in the first volume, plenty. Ata from ages 15-19... a fair bit. Ata as an adult, not much. By the time I reach this story's conclusion she'll have become a mightier warrior than even her father.

Which is a tall order.

Despite this, an impressive crowd was gathered around a pillory on top of a small stage. A young girl dangled from her punishment, so short she could not stand while trapped in that wooden block. An older woman handed out spoiled food then invited others to throw it. Between this child and the downpour, none noticed when an old knight paused under a nearby archway. [End]
