One of the carnivorous Bladderworts endemic to the south of Western Australia. These were seen in Mount Frankland National Park growing in an open damp heathland area.

Time for another #AwesomeBirds #WildOz edition. This predatory songbird has one of the most beautiful songs in the bush. They’re extra chatty right now, reinforcing the pair bond at the start of the breeding season.

The sleeping parent of the new Powerful Owlet. At dusk it turned out there was another Powerful Owlet that began trilling behind the adult. This was a surprise as Owlet siblings often roost together and the first looked alone. A very successful year for these POwls.

A new Powerful Owlet! This from a pair that had an owlet that was rescued a couple of years ago, and that we helped with the release of when it had recovered. It looks a lot like that Owlet. So for this season we're up to 15 Owlets, 6 in pairs, 3 singles.

The White-bellied Sea Eagle is found right around the Australian coast as well as PNG, SE Asia, India and Sri Lanka. The sexes are similar but the female is slightly larger. Wingspan can be over 2m. Prey on fish, birds, turtles, reptiles and small mammals and eat carrion. #birds #eagles #WildOz
