@doctorscience.bsky.socialQ: in my town the local Dems are working to push out the all-GOP local government. But the Dems are all hard-core NIMBYs you can't argue with, & I'm considering splitting my ballot.
A: you can't split your ballot w/fascists.
@doctorscience.bsky.socialQ: @angieforfl.bsky.social won her primary despite being heavily outspent, she attributes that to grassroots people-powered organizing. What citizen action is most effective besides $?
A: you do need some money, but it's a lot of on the ground work
#WhatsThePlan
@doctorscience.bsky.social@leahgreenberg.bsky.social there were challenging aspects in Massachusetts, mostly because @edmarkey.bsky.social is an elderly incumbent but also very progressive, made the "generation change" narrative difficult for some congressional candidates
#WhatsThePlan
@doctorscience.bsky.socialQ: you pushed Patrick Roth in MA hard & then didn't say anything when he lost. Have you spoken w/him or his staff?
A: we don't hit all our bets, but it's true that we haven't talked enough about the ones we lost
#WhatsThePlan
@doctorscience.bsky.socialAnother Q make it clear that people would feel more grounded if there was a clear plan for election shenanigans rapid response
#WhatsThePlan
@doctorscience.bsky.socialThe budget expires in December. The Q for the lame duck Congress will be how long to extend the budget: just 2 months, until Dems take control? or longer.
#WhatsThePlan
@ibjoy80020.bsky.social@doctorscience.bsky.socialQ: How do we make the public understand that there are things we can do beyond mass rallies?
A: There are things we can plan for in general:
- the ability to get people in the streets en masse at 24/48 hours notice
- think about sustained & growing pressure if needed

@ibjoy80020.bsky.social📚In case you didn't already love @angieforfl.bsky.social wildly
@ibjoy80020.bsky.social@doctorscience.bsky.socialQ: Winning the midterms is not enough. How do we convince our leaders to fight for our agenda?
A: You're singing our song! The election is just the first step. We party, then we use the leverage we've gained to keep pushing
We don't want to lose steam like Obama For America did

@doctorscience.bsky.socialTonight (Thurs.) there's an Election Protection training call:

@doctorscience.bsky.socialQ: Can we hope that lame duck House Republicans will switch parties?
A: No. They're looking forward to future corporate lobbying jobs. They believe.
We don't need them to switch.
