Daelan would read something obscure about art from the ancient Egypt. Or from the medieval ages.

Daxton would read books on cars, especially classic cars. He might even be weird and read like ... car manuals or something LOL.

I assume pretty awkward. Especially when they are alone in Colorado... although, maybe Daxton could use the time to talk himself through some issues he is having.

All of my books have a very healthy amount of preparation, foreplay, mutual satisfaction, kink talk, boundary talk, checking in.

My books are very sex positive.

Consent is number one.

Daelan gets off easy. He doesn't have any difficult decisions.

Daxton has a few hard decisions. Heal from his relationship trauma with his ex-girlfriend. Tell people about his bisexuality. Tell people about Daelan.

Daelan is likely to be reckless, mainly with love. He is who he is. He is proud of that.

Daxton is more cowardly. He is afraid of everyone's judgements. He has a lot of internalized biphobia and homophobia he needs to work through.

(My murder baby finally gets his time to shine!)

Eron is not pleased with Alrick, who has been skimming money 'off the top' of protection fees from businesses.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

It was mostly quiet in the forest, the trees were singing their songs in the wind, rattling as the footsteps of several men crunched the twigs and gravel with each step. The only other sound was that of the man who had the bag over his head, muffled screaming as he was dragged through the forest to the small stream deep inside. “You knew the consequences, Avrick. I had warned you many times, did I not? I have you many chances and yet, here we are, because you decided that skimming money off the top of the protection fees was your ‘god given right’ as you told the informer, wasn’t it?” Avrick could not answer with the gag in his mouth, but he tried, muffled sobs and screams tried to cut through the air, he was trying to get me to see his point of view. When they find your body, Alrick, just remember that I tried to be merciful. I tried to get you to see reason, this is your own doing. With that, Eron took the bag off Alrick’s head, shoving his head into the water of the stream.

He'll never admit it, but Daelan is ~*a wee bit*~ jealous Daxton is going to a zoo while he is at a conference.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

The bartender gives me a small wave before going back to what he was doing. I make my way down the strip, using my phone to navigate to the zoo. Text Message: Daxton: I’m going to a zoo, are you jealous? Text Message: Daelan: A zoo? Really? Text Message: Daxton: I can hear the jealousy through the phone. It’s fine, I’ll take some pictures of the cute arctic foxes that apparently are there. I put my phone away as I see the signs directing me to the zoo. Heading inside, I immediately see the appeal of this place, the amount of adorable animals is outstanding. I was past the wolves and then some elephants. My home town has nothing like this. The “zoo” is about four enclosures of animals they probably just found around the field behind them. Text Message: Daxton: [attached picture of the arctic foxes] Aren’t they adorable? They kind of look like you, if I’m being honest. Text Message: Daelan: Oh my god. Are you usually this cheesy? [attached is a emoji with tongue sticking out] Text Message: Daxton: Excuse me? I can be way cheesier, just wait.

Kennedy is both excited and nervous to talk about the confession in the car. He has a lot of childhood trauma with parents and authority figures.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

Kaevan nods in understanding, “How about we do three hour shifts each, that seems fair, right? Lets us get enough sleep to function but not enough that the others are going to feel tired.” He starts chewing on some fries, a happy look on his face. I am about to say something when Kennedy pipes up, “So … are we going to talk about what happened in the car or are the three of us just going to pretend it didn’t happen and everything is usual, normal even.” He sits on the bed, wrapping a blanket around his shoulders as he looks at both of us with an earnest, but slightly guarded look. “Well, I mean, we did admit we were into each other. That’s kind of hard to just forget, isn’t it?” I am sitting on the office chair, Kaevan sitting on one bed cross-legged as he eats from the take-out box, Kennedy sitting on the other bed, just looking at me. “What do you want it to mean?” Kennedy opens his mouth and then shuts it again. I can tell there are two parts of him that are fighting with each other right now. One part of him wants to admit to everything and see where it goes, see if we can make something work between the three of us. The other part is remembering his childhood and his experiences and how he let himself be vulnerable at some point and it got him hurt.

You all get to meet my newest couple and my shapeshifting cat character, Zeke.

Zakk is just doing some shopping in the market when an injured "cat" seeks his help.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

The cat followed me around the market as I made payments for my purchases. It meowed at me every so often, making me look. It sounded so pitiful, so weak. You don’t have the space for a cat, Zakk. I needed to remind myself, my apartment was barely enough for me, I couldn’t put a cat through that. It stopped it front of me and meowed again. It walked a few feet and that’s when I saw the slash on its arm, the slight limp as it tried to pretend it was okay. “Oh, are you hurt little one?” I reached down and picked it up, careful not to touch the wound. “Oh dear, that looks deep.” I was fighting with myself but now knew I could not just leave this animal on the street to get either more hurt or get an infection. I sighed heavily, “Alright fine. Just until you are healed up. My apartment really isn’t a place a cat should be. I grabbed my bags with my free hand and hauled both them, at this new friend, back to my apartment.

(I've talked about Noble and Nyx, now read some of their story)

Nyx is explaining to Noble Helsing what an "Original Vampire" is. 🧛🏻‍♂️

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

Noble stared at Nyx, trying his best effort to contain himself in the face of a vampire who was over eighteen times his age and could, without even breaking a sweat, destroy him and send him into the abyss of hell. “An Original Vampire? What does that mean? I swished the glass of crimson liquid, it stuck to the sides and Noble immediately knew what it was. “It means I am one of the first. The Father of Vampires. Created by Lucifer himself with the dark magics of Hell.” “And I’m a vampire hunter, trained to kill your kind, one stab from my silver stake and you’ll be dust.” He was challenging the vampire, even if he knew the risks. I let out a small laugh. “Let me see this silver stake.” Noble handed over the stake. He watched, in horror, as I stuck the stack through my chest and into my heart. Yet, there I was, not dust.” “What the... fuck?”

Aaron and Andrew are talking about the honeymoon Andrew needs to cancel. He spent a lot of money... 😅

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

My eyes widen a bit, “Twenty thousand dollars!? What the hell did you book?” I hand him the mug of hot cocoa, “That’s a lot of god damn money. I thought you were just taking her to Bali, is it really that expensive to go?” He lets out a bitter laugh, “I went all out. First Class Tickets, Penthouse suite at the hotel, excursions, spa dates, the works. I spent so much time and research finding the perfect getaway for me and my new bride, I didn’t even care that I was spending that much money. Now, it seems like a complete loss.” He looks over at me, defeated look in his eyes, “Maybe they’ll feel bad for me when I call tomorrow and refund at least part of it.” “I bet they will.” I try to reassure him, but I know he is probably going to be out a lot of money and now I feel bad. He isn’t hurting for cash, but he isn’t rich. And now, with Taylor missing in action and eventually leaving him completely, he is going to have a bunch of expenses he wasn’t prepared for. “Listen, Andrew, let’s just chill out tonight. We’ll deal with this tomorrow. Let’s just enjoy tonight, okay?” He turns around with his phone in his hand, his frown turning into a small smile, “Right? Tomorrow. We’ll deal with it tomorrow.” He puts his phone down on the counter, the screen facedown. “How did I get so lucky to have a best friend like you?”

C/W: Talk about masturbation

I think I may have shared this already, but it is my only instance of "exterior". This is the moment Daxton lets it slips that he may love Daelan. As more than just a brotherly friend.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

“R-really?” I see a crack in his confident exterior, his eyes darting between mine, his voice is low and quiet, his mouth is slightly agape. “You think you … love me?” “Jesus.” I run a hand through my hair, getting out of the bed. “I don’t know, do I?” I pace the room a bit before looking over at him. “Like, come on. All that time when we were teenagers. That’s not something normal friends do with each other. They don’t cuddle at night, they don’t support each other like that, they don’t talk through nightmares while holding each other.” I let out a huff of confused, frustrated air. “And I cannot, without feeling like shit, not admit that you do things to me. You make my chest feel right, you make my heart race, you make this electrical current run through me at your touch.” I spin around and start pacing again, “And I just jerked off in the shower thinking of touching you. That’s not normal.” The words spill out of my mouth before I can filter them, causing me to turn around and look at him with my mouth slightly agape, “Wait… forget that last part.” He looks at me, I can tell his brain is processing the words I just said, after a few moments, a small but obviously sly smirk starts to cross his lips and I know what he is thinking. “Really? You just blew a load in the shower thinking of touching me?” He leans back on the bed, putting his hands behind his head, locking his fingers together, “You must have quite the imagination.”

C/W: Talk about Kinks, specifically of the golden kind.

Daelan really has no filter. The morning after their first time together, he is ready to discuss the dark corners of Daxton's mind.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

“That’s what pee kinks are labelled under, Dax.” He peeks around the corner of the door frame to the bedroom, “It’s where you like to–” I throw a pillow at him from the bed as he stands on the steps to the staircase, cutting him off. “Oh my god. Get the fuck out of here already.” There isn’t any heat in my words as I start to laugh, “Go pee. Now. IN THE TOILET.” I yell the last part as he starts walking down the staircase, his bare feet padding along the vinyl flooring. As he gets to the bathroom, I don’t hear the door close, but here the toilet seat lifts and then his voice carries up the stairs, “What are you getting so hot under the collar for, Dax? Trust me, I am the last person to kink shame you, I am a pretty open-minded person and I am down to try most things at least once.” I am silent for a moment until I groan loudly, enough for him to hear it from the bathroom downstairs, “We spend one night together. ONE NIGHT. And you’re now wanting to talk about kinks, that is so fucking … fucked, Daelan.” I started to laugh, “Like, shouldn’t that be something we talk about maybe a few months into this new found dynamic we have, I don’t think that should be something we discuss so early.”

Daxton is having a real hard time with accepting he might be bisexual. Heavy use of foreshadowing here... 😅

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

I sit there in my truck, head leaned against the steering wheel as I listen to the sound of the engine purring. I can’t believe those thoughts just went through my head. I need to get my shit together, figure out what I am feeling. I just agreed to spend several days with him in a completely different city. I should be panicking, I should be texting him to back out, saying that my boss won’t let me go, the garage is just too busy. But, a large part of me is logically thinking about this, wanting to go with him, wanting to get away from the friends and the family that could dilute my thought process. A large part of me wants to go and figure out what the hell is happening to me. He is my sister’s best friend, he is a man, making my head confused. I am not into men, I have never been into men. So, why can’t I stop thinking about him? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck me. I let out a drawn out sigh that lasts for a solid thirty seconds and I sit there. Finally, I turn the truck back into drive and head back home, slowly driving through the streets, turning on the radio to try and distract my brain. ‘Guilty As Sin’ is playing on the radio. I quickly switch it to a pop radio station, which is playing ‘Same Love’. Jesus Christ! I turn the radio again to a rock station, which is playing ‘Coming Clean’. I shut the radio off, letting out another frustrated sigh. What the fuck am I going to do?

Daxton has some relationship trauma from his previous girlfriend. Daelan is not here for her bullshit.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

“Yeah. I’ll have a black coffee.” I finish getting my stuff back together, putting my phone in my pocket before slinging my own duffle bag over my shoulders. “Black … Coffee?” He says slowly like it is a foreign concept. “You like … black coffee?” He turns around and starts walking to the Starbucks in the waiting area. I shrug, “Not really.” I jog to catch up to him, meeting his pace as we walk together. “Then why are you asking for a black coffee?” He looks stunned, getting at the back of the line. The question is simple. Understandable. I look at him and for a moment, I don’t speak. Finally, a few moments later, I cleared my throat, “Tammy used to say a man who drank anything but black coffee was too feminine for her, so I started drinking it to please her.” I shrug again, suddenly feeling self-conscious, “So, it is just kind of a thing I do.” He is silent for a few moments, just staring ahead. When he speaks, his tone is a bit frustrated and with an edge of anger. “Well, fuck that bitch.” He turns to look at me, “You can have whatever the hell you want, Daxton. You want a venti mocha-cocoa-swiss-frothy-choco-frapp and I will order it for you. A drink does not, nor will it ever, designate someone’s masculinity.”

Daxton just finished watching his niece and nephew for his sister. He is le tired. 😅

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

“Fine, fine.” She shakes her head as Scott heads upstairs. She makes her way to the couch and sits down next to me, “I take it the night was okay then? Or have you decided to renounce your niece and nephew?” A small smile sits on her lips as she speaks, clearly understanding how much energy her kids take to handle. I shrug nonchalantly, “Honestly, every time I watch them I am thankful I don’t want to have kids. I love them, Steph, but holy fucking fuck. Den talks like a million miles a minute and Ava tugs at your shirt if she feels neglected. They both want attention at the same time. It’s exhausting.” “Yep.” She says flatly, “I understand where you’re coming from, but I really do appreciate the fact you did come over and help us out. Scott and I haven’t been able to actually have a night like that in a long time.” “Steph, it’s all good. You guys deserved it. I know how difficult it can be. I didn’t say I hated it, it was just a lot. You know I would kill for those kids, don’t go questioning me now.” I take a sip of my beer, “They just have so much energy I think I could sleep for a week.”

Daxton is complaining about electric vehicles, but I think Daelan has other things on his mind...

C/W: Suggestive Talk and Undertones.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

“They don’t have enough personality, Holly. No vroom vroom for electric cars.” He looks between her and me, “They just are so uncool, Holly.” His voice has a teasing tone with a small playful smile on her face. She nods in understanding, “That is blasphemy, isn’t it? What kind of car is it if it doesn’t have the vroom vroom standard? Might as well be a horse and buggy.” I give them both the side-eye, a wry grin on my face as I suck my teeth. “You are all super rude. Here I am, trying to enjoy the pleasant conversation and all I am getting is sass and mean comments.” “Sorry baby boy.” He wraps his arms around me as he casually says that nickname. I stiffen for a moment as I look over at Holly and Bradley, not sure how they are going to react to it. Both of their features soften as their mouths move to pucker their lips. I am now turning red, they are totally giving us the ‘awe’ face. “Yeah yeah. Sure you are.” He leans in and whispers, “I’ll pay you back tonight. Make sure you can’t walk properly tomorrow.”

I admit, this may be a bit of a stretch. DuckDuckGo tells me "Gear" is a synonym for "Rig".

Just a little scene before a confession between Kennedy, Knox, and Kyle.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

I nod in agreement, “Yeah, probably our best bet. We’ll destroy our gear before we head over, we really should only go over the border with our own bodies. We can buy whatever the hell we need once we are established in Mexico.” I turn down a side road, heading down the gravel roads, “I talked to my contact in San Felipe, he said the money is safely in an offshore account. I paid him half his deposit and will pay him the rest once we get there. He sent me some pictures of a few villas down there, too.” “Yeah…” Kennedy speaks quietly, “The deal is to get to San Felipe, we split the money three ways and then go our separate ways, yes?” The question comes off a little quiet, with a tinge of something unreadable in the tone. The car goes quiet, nobody says anything for a few moments until I break the silence, “Yeah. Each of us gets two-hundred million dollars and then we split up.” Kaevan clears his throat, “You know, unless it is against your rules boss, maybe we could stay together a bit longer when we get there. Just kind of keep an eye on each other, make sure we’re all safe until we depart. I’d hate to hear one of you got pinched and I couldn’t help somehow.”

I may have shared this before. My boy Daelan has it bad for Daxton. Which is okay, seeing as Daxton also has it real bad for him, too.

C/W: Playful Derogatory Language

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

I let out a startled laugh, shoulders shaking as I buried my face in my hands, “Oh my GOD–” I wheezed, peaking through my fingers at me, “That’s actually the weirdest but most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me. You’re telling me you’re so obsessed with me that you couldn’t even PLAY pretend and call me names.” I let out a snort, “That’s deranged levels of devotion, Daelan.” He lets out another laugh, this time with a bit more volume, “Yeah. Sorry. I am wholly devoted to you. I will never be able to degrade you. I’d call you something nasty, like a ‘dirty slut’, and then immediately be like ‘No. I didn’t mean that. Sorry. Forgive me, baby boy.” “STOP!” I burst out laughing, loud and genuine, nearly water over the side of the tub with my body shaking “I’m literally– I’m dying. You’d literally apologize MID-insult.” I gasp, trying to catch my breath. “Okay no, that is the weirdest, most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me. You’re pathetically devoted to me.” I sober slightly, touching his hand again, “I cannot tell you how much it means to me that we’re having this conversation and I do not feel awkward about it at all. It is really a testament of how good I think you are for me.”
