I got distracted, missed something and am confused. Didn’t the old man confess?

Hey! Are photos back for everyone suddenly? #TheGuilty #TheNoirCollective
Huh!?
I’ve seen this before and the ending is still weird.

In Woolrich’s original story, Tremholt was indeed the murderer! His relationship with Estelle was more defined and some details - like the paint colors Jake used when he was painting the incinerator chute, figured prominently in identifying Tremholt as the killer.
Released through Monogram Pictures .... the makers of high end epics!

Wow!!! This is some dark-as-night noir!
In that final shot, we see Estelle walking down "the old street" from above, just like Linda would have on the night of the murder when Dixon claimed he watched her from the balcony.
Psych!!!
You can’t always trust the noir voiceover! Carr as the unreliable narrator is such a great twist - unique to the film. As they put it in the Film Noir Foundation extras, that twist “out-Woolriched Woolrich.” Bravo to screenwriter Presnell.

Another fabulous shot! Also, Heller is a champion lurker!
I never trusted the half mustache either girl. #TheNoirCollective #TheGuilty
Nice use of shadows in this scene with Mike and Heller.

OMG the paternal older lodger???
Carr, perfectly framed by the incinerator chute that Linda’s body has been stuffed in.
“Slumming” is underrated. #TheNoirCollective #TheGuilty
