The next opportunity to ask questions about #SPVM #PoliceBrutality during the #PublicQuestionsPeriod will be on October 19th.

La Ligue des droits et libertés, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association & others warned Montréal politicians about the risks of abuse stemming from the bylaw prohibiting "insulting" Montreal city employees.

I have already asked #Montreal politicians multiple questions about SPVM #RiotCops assaulting William Wilson & other photographers-videographers & #journalists etc., starting in March 2025, but more people need to put pressure on #politicians to denounce & end #SPVM #PoliceBrutality.
This is just the most recent SPVM #PoliceBrutality targeting #photographers, videographers, & #journalists documenting #protests.
SPVM #RiotCops have been assaulting William Wilson & other #Montreal photographers-videographers for about 2 years now.
There's a #Montréal city council meeting tonight. You & other people who were subjected to #SPVM #PoliceBrutality last Wednesday (while the SPVM was presenting its annual report for 2025 to the #PublicSecurityCommission) should ask questions during tonight's #PublicQuestionsPeriod.
During their 8 years in power, did you ever see former #Montréal mayor Valérie Plante, or #ProjetMontréal as a political party, tell the #SPVM to "stand down" or use other tactics to de-escalate?
Or did they rather typically do nothing?
Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada & her Ensemble Montréal administration have done more to address UNprofessional & #abusive behaviour by problematic #SPVM cops in its first 10 months than #ProjetMontréal did in its 8 years in power.
Let's see how things look in 2027.
I wanted to ask a question about #SPVM #PoliceBrutality against not only #protesters, but photographers, videographers & journalists documenting #protests, but because the Public Security Commission insisted that questions should be about things in the annual report, I asked a different question.
Quite ironically, that most recent SPVM #PoliceRepression of a protest, & #PoliceBrutality towards not only #protesters, but #journalists documenting a #protest, occurred while the #SPVM was belatedly presenting its annual report for 2025.

Most ironically, this most recent SPVM #PoliceRepression of peaceful public protest & #PoliceBrutality towards not only #protesters, but #journalists documenting a protest, occurred while the #SPVM was presenting its annual report for 2025.
I'm not a professional #journalist, but I am something of a "police watchdog".
I noticed an increase in #SPVM #PoliceBrutality targeting photographers & videographers, including William Wilson, in the fall of 2024.
Since then, I've been assaulted by SPVM #RiotCops twice.
ICYMI there was just as much #SPVM #PoliceRepression of peaceful public protests, & #PoliceBrutality towards not only #protesters, but #journalists documenting protests, during the 8 years "l'homme de la shituation" aka #ValériePlante & #ProjetMontréal were in power.

This video from this year's #MayDay Workers' Rights demonstration shows #SPVM riot cops firing a #TearGas grenade at #protesters, then charging at them.
Two of the #RiotCops then assault the person filming that #police "intervention".
Are you suggesting that #Montrealers who choose to exercise their "Charter guaranteed" right to engage in peaceful public protest in the streets of #Montreal should just capitulate to #SPVM #PoliceBrutality by #protesting in other ways?
"Mayor Soryaya (sic) Martinez Ferrada — who could easily have told the #SPVM to stand down or use other tactics to de-escalate — instead, and rather typically, did nothing."
So what did #ProjetMontréal do when #SPVM cops brutalized not only #protesters, but #journalists & #photographers?
Most ironically, this most recent SPVM #PoliceRepression of a protest, & #PoliceBrutality against not only #protesters, but #journalists documenting the protest, occured while the #SPVM was presenting its annual report.
