It may look like a springtime satellite view of Southern California, but it's fall now. The marine layer is about 2,000 feet thick. Still, once the low clouds clear, the inland valleys should be around 90°, and the coast should be a few degrees above normal in the low 80s. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Polo is a major hurricane with sustained winds of 150 mph. It is expected to weaken over the next day or so, then re-intensify. The National Hurricane Center forecasts landfall in southern Baja Monday a.m. with sustained winds of 105 mph. Surf impacts in S.D. County unclear so far. #sandiegoweather

Socked in: Visibility this morning in inland North County is under a quarter mile. But we're facing a warming trend. Some of the valleys could be back in the 90s today and Thursday, while the coast returns to the low 80s. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Fall is upon us! Good riddance, summer. But naturally, it will warm up the next couple of days at both the coast and inland valleys. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Halfway through September, San Diego is running 4.1° warmer than average. Much of that is due to 4 straight days in the 90s last week, but warm nights have also been a factor. San Diego hasn't dipped below 70 since Sept. 5. The normal low the first half of Sept. is 66 or 67. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

The return of the marine layer: Coastal low clouds have extended well inland this morning. September is letting up on us, at least briefly. A cooling trend is in place, but the weather service says high pressure could build late in the week & return temps to above normal. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

So far, September in San Diego looks a lot like August. Through Sept. 11, this month would rank as the city's 6th warmest September, with reliable temperature records going back 152 years. The average high (85°) is 7° above normal. August was San Diego's 5th warmest on record. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

A return to normalcy: After many miserable nights with record-breaking minimum temperatures, we finally got some cool here in inland North County. It dipped to 66 degrees this morning. San Diego, however, didn’t drop below 73. The city hasn’t been under 73 for a week. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Another crazy warm night, with records for highest minimum temperature matched or topped all over the place. Escondido, which hit 112 on Wednesday, also tied its Sept. 10 record high with 103 on Thursday. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

According to the National Weather Service’s Greg Martin, the 112 degrees reached in Escondido Wednesday tied for the 4th hottest day in city history, going back to 1893. It was the latest point in the year the city has reached 112 or higher. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

An extreme heat warning is in effect until 8 tonight. Coastal highs could top 90 again, and the inland valleys could exceed 100. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Marie currently has sustained winds of 90 mph. It should lose its hurricane status early Sunday. The weather service now says the best chances of rain are Sunday morning, but to the north of San Diego County. Some parts of South County may get no rain at all. #sandiegoweather #CAwx
