Human memory is our own personal understanding of reality. #realityhunger
This section really struck me because I feel like we spend so much time worrying about the end product of an action or worrying about the future that we forget the tiny actions we do to work towards our goal are the most important driver of the outcome. #realityhunger
"Attention equals life, or it's only evidence." The fact that you're putting your attention and time into something is proof that you actually care about it/ living it #realityhunger
Whenever I try and think of this "raw" and unfiltered perspective of an artistic movement I think of a show like The Office. Simple, just reporting the everyday lives of office workers in a seemingly mundane environment, yet the show flourishes as art in this environment #realityhunger
Woah where did this language shift come from. I think the author might be really passionate about soul music. Apparently it grabs you by the balls. #realityhunger
How was literature connected to the scientific world, and why did the discoveries of these men shift the landscape of literature? Is it because the discoveries of these men were so abstract yet seen as true that it allowed literature to do the same? #realityhunger
Shields ask if our memories are fiction because we omit certain details and I would say no. While we do omit some details from trauma life events the main idea of the story or event is still intact so to me it is true. #realityhunger
This really stood out to me because it acknowledges that being raw and saying how things make you actually feel makes you more authentic and helps people connect with you more #realityhunger
People felt the need to describe their work with the illusion of truth, I think it goes to show the public opinion on fiction back in the day. Why was it looked down upon, why did writing have to be based in truth? #realityhunger
All of part F is a great read because it just goes to show much we make up to protect ourselves from the harshness of the real world. Our memory helps us forget what it knows we want to forget. #realityhunger
Lucian's The Golden Ass, ive never heard about this story, but now I want to read it. Its crazy that even back in the day people were creative enough to think of this stuff. Like what inspired Lucian to write a story about someone turning into a donkey. #realityhunger
In part F number 161 goes along with a lot of history also. The idea that what we remeber is covering the real story anyway because we decide to forget the pain of what really happen. I have personally done this with events in my life I previously choose to forget. #realityhunger
Why include the behind the scenes footage into a show or movie? Is it to establish a familiarity with the audience? To add another layer of complexity? #realityhunger
I find it interesting how he mentions the content of religious texts being real but potentially out of order. I always wondered about the validity of religious texts. #realityhunger
Crazy how much has not changed and we still ponder about the huge idea called love. #realityhunger
#realityhunger man do i love to beat a dead house when it serves me ANYWAYS 🫡
This is so true. If enough people tell the same lie it just becomes a fact to everyone. I do not have examples of the top of my head but it goes hand in hand with exaggerated history events. Such as this fighter beat 100 men when really he beat 2 but 100 is cooler so now its fact. #realityhunger
I like that the author questions what counts as a fact. And what is a lie? It forces us to stop and think #realityhunger
I often think of the exact opposite for art as I think of it as an escape from reality or what reality should look like rather than a bleak reflection of it #realityhunger
