'Anti-Colonial Thanksgiving guided walk' of Akikodjiwan/Asinabka a.k.a. the Chaudiere Falls site.

Starting 2pm from the National Library & Archives, 395 Wellington St.

This is the 5th time I've led it - 1st public one since 2019.

— Invitation — Anti-Colonial Thanksgiving guided walk This Sunday, October 11th - start 2:00 pm, for approx 2 hours. Meet at: front steps of National Library & Archives, 395 Wellington St. This will be a non-demanding physical walk by the sacred waterfalls site ‘Chaudiere Falls & islands’ originally known as Akikodjiwan / Asinabka. The purposes are: To share knowledge = To build community = ‘To breathe the air’. I gave this tour on Sept. 29th this year to a university class, at the request of the professor who’d attended the walk I originally gave in 2019 as part of the annual Jane’s Walks. It went very well, and I got inspired and thought that to give it again, in a more accessible/open way, would be good. This weekend walk isn’t for any particular group, it is for whomever comes. It is relatively short-notice, for anyone who doesn’t already have plans. But this is not a fully-public invite, it is only through this newsletter as well as some direct invites I am sending out. But you can also pass this invite on if you know others who’d be interested. This is primarily offered for people who haven’t attended the previous instances of this walk. It is free, but I will have print versions of the ‘Sacred Waterfalls Site in Ottawa: Annotated Resource Guide’ for suggested $2-5 sliding scale. RSVPs are appreciated but not necessary, any questions are welcome too: greg@equitableeducation.ca There is small chance of rain, and if necessary I’ll send out notice to all RSVP’ers of rescheduling to the next day, Monday (a holiday) also 2pm. This event is a different approach but with inspiration from the community Decolonial Thanksgivings organized in Guelph over a number of years.
