You need three tenths of spacing on the rear axle and you are stacking whatever washers are in the parts drawer. A labelled 0.1 and 0.2mm shim set costs less than a pinion. Beginners shim with what is nearby. Racers shim to a number they can write down and repeat.

Is the chassis you would recommend to a new racer the same one you actually race? Mine is not. I tell people to buy what the club runs, then I go and race the thing I already owned. Anyone else giving advice they do not follow?

You have topped out in brushed and brushless looks like the next step. It is not one purchase. Motor, ESC and a pack that can feed it, or you have spent the money and built a slower car. What the whole conversion costs.

You roll the car across the pit table and it stops dead while everyone else's keeps going. Spin each front wheel by hand. Beginners torque the front nuts down and bind the wheel against the knuckle. Fast drivers set them by spin, leaving a trace of side play.

Front camber. Has yours ever been anything other than what the chassis shipped with? Mini-Z camber comes from the knuckles, so changing it means buying parts, which is why most of us never touch it. Anyone running a front camber number they picked on purpose?

How many nights do you get out of a set of rears before you retire them, and what actually makes the call? I go on lap time. I know people who go on how the edge of the tire looks, and they are usually right earlier than I am.

The car bogs off slow corners and you have already tried a smaller pinion and a fresh pack. Hold the spur gear and turn one rear wheel by hand. If it moves easily, the ball diff is slipping. Beginners keep gearing down. Experienced racers tighten a quarter turn and re-test.

If your servo buzzes at full lock, EPA is set past the mechanical limit and you are stalling it every corner. Beginners max EPA chasing steering angle. Experienced racers back it off until the buzz stops, then find the steering in dual rate.

You bought an MR-04 and most of the setup advice you can find was written for the MR-03. Some carries straight over. The T-plate, the board and the ride height do not. Platform guide written for the MR-04 specifically.

You are on the carpet hunting a body clip after a marshal, again. Magnetic body mounts replace the posts and clips with a plate and magnets, and the body comes off in one motion. Beginners buy a bag of spare clips. Club racers stop losing them entirely.

What chemistry does your club actually race on, and did you ever switch mid-season? I came off NiMH and the car felt different enough that I spent two nights unwinding setup changes I did not need to make. Curious whether that is a common trap.

You are still on the radio that came in the ReadySet and the steering feels vague at speed. Some of that is the servo. Some is a transmitter with no rate adjustment, no curve, no model memory. What upgrading actually buys you.

The car felt fine in heat one and drags by heat three, and the pack tests fine. Pull the rear wheels. Carpet fuzz and hair wrap the axle behind the hubs and it costs real rollout. Beginners re-gear. Experienced racers clear the axle every night.

Most of "the track has no grip tonight" is dust on your tires, not the surface. Roll both sets on packing tape between every heat and half that complaint disappears. Beginners change compound. Fast drivers clean first and change nothing.

You want AWD and cannot tell whether the MA-020 is genuinely faster or just different. It is a different driving style, not a shortcut. What it fixes, what it costs you in maintenance, and what to buy first.

You charge every pack off the brick that came in the box and one is always flat by lap four. That charger cannot tell you which one. A charger with a discharge cycle gives you real capacity per pack. Beginners rotate packs blind. Club racers know the mAh of each.

Open your pit box and find the part you bought a year ago and have still never fitted to a car. Mine is a set of alloy knuckles I was completely convinced I needed. What is yours, and would you buy it again knowing what you know now?

Your club runs stock brushed and every motor on the shelf is a number and a colour with nothing to explain it. Turns, magnets, and where the usable power sits for RCP lap lengths. Which brushed motor to buy and why.

Your car only glitches at the far end of the track and is fine everywhere else. That is antenna length, not interference. Wire coiled inside the chassis is a shorter antenna than Kyosho designed. Beginners buy a new board. Experienced racers route the wire full length first.

Do you ever record a heat and watch it back, or is that overkill for club racing? Every time I have done it I found something I would have sworn was not happening, usually me lifting halfway through a corner I thought I was flat through.
