A couple of images of copepod larvae using slightly unusual perspectives. The first is a large nauplius, I think from the order Siphonostomatoida, with some lovely eyespots and tattoo-looking blue markings on its back. Cont. below ⬇️

Sample day! A late one today. The wind be blowin’ but the waters are clear. #marineplankton 🦑

I’m really not sure what’s going on here. I’ve never seen a group of diatoms move like this! At first I wondered if it was a colony of Bacillaria paxillifera that’s gone wrong, but the cells don’t seem quite right. Am I over thinking it? Is it B.paxillifera or something else?
