The door opens, countless yellow eyes staring. The poor level 1 can't handle it. He runs forward. The glistening lamp. A stark light against the abyss. Like the sun on a night sky. Jaws part, long strands of slimy saliva stretching as the maw opens... wider, wider. Red eyes, narrow pupils. The golden light of the lamp. Forgotten by the employee. All eyes widen. A loud clamp. The eyes close, head tilting up. Wet, slimy swallowing. Effortless. Screams muffled, nearly inaudible, fading to nothing. Fading to nothing like the world beyond the beast. The eyes are on me now. It walks closer, the ground shaking. A faint gurgle and fading groans of a man growing weaker. From a hostile pit in the darkness. The mouth opens. Shall I run? I cannot run. Shall I wait? I am enchanted. I shall walk forward. Jump in. Jump in.. Jump in... Deep in the blackout, within the blackout, The cold metal walls of the facility, the black trees, the leafless branches, sleep now. A lethal altruism.
