@politicalodor.substack.comWas reading about Leonard Nimoy's final words, days before he passed, posted on Twitter...
"𝐀 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝, 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲. 𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐏"
Sagely words that I daresay a Trumpian or MAGA would even understand, but we certainly do!
@jangofatt.bsky.socialBelated birthday gift. This is a review tape for the Roddenberry family to watch the final edit of #startrek #deepspacenine. I had to look up the video format & my best guess is that this is a Sony #umatic tape? Is there anyone in the industry that can confirm? Very pleased to have this tape #llap🖖
@ll-ss-dd.bsky.socialSome years ago, I noticed a google street camera car driving by, I threw up the LLAP. It's blurry, hard to see, but it's there. #LLAP
@joesiegler.blog(& very short treks - ugh) - despite my thinking that's not a proper "Star Trek series" (hello @seanferrick.bsky.social).
That should take me into late December at which point I'll do Blake's 7 Season 3 before getting to Star Trek Picard in the new year.
@billhuntbits.bsky.socialShuttlecraft Galileo has landed at the Star Trek Set Tour in Ticonderoga, and on hand to celebrate were Trek luminaries George Takei, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, David Gerrold, Mike & Denise Okuda, and Bjo Trimble, whose letter campaign in 1967-68 saved TOS. And every bit of this is good. #LLAP 🖖
@audreyt.orgSome AI researcher friends say the end is nigh.😨
Concern & consternation are reasonable.✅
But there’s still time to reset the AI Doomsday Clock.🔄
Share my thoughts on our common challenge & two-pronged solution for safety in the Age of AI.🙏
