Hans has not spoken in a couple of minutes, one leg and arm curled around Henry in possession and evenly breathing, so Henry has to assume he’s sleeping now too, as with everyone else. He’s wearing his hunting greens again, as he so often does these days, cuirass and pourpoint forsaken in his Pirkstein roost to gather dust for a few stolen days. Their campfire, nearly slumbering itself, spills honeyed light over Hans’ form in ebbs and flows in the corner of Henry’s vision as he keeps looking upward. Here and there a star twinkles; God or one of His angels looking -- winking -- back.”
