@homelabbench.bsky.socialJust finished testing the Gmktec Evo X3 with 128GB RAM as a local AI machine. Wrote up my honest thoughts on what it handles well and where it falls short for running models at home. #homelab #localai

@phpboyscout.ukMy homelab ran out of memory, not disk. Two weeks of clever tuning bought time but added zero capacity. So: a GitLab runner fleet that scales to zero. idle_count is fixed at 0. Workers get 200 GB (not a typo). #GitLab #HomeLab

@invirtuate.comSpent some time hardening the VPC network for guestlet virtual machines today. Everything down caps to a regular user with minimal caps (for root things), and PE is blocked.
@openalarm.ioI made every API call a GET with no body so a dumb webhook could fire it. That's how your own alarm trips OpenAlarm. Some people find that odd for a trigger. Would a POST have felt more correct to you? #BuildInPublic #API #Webhooks #SelfHosted #HomeLab #IndieHackers #DIY #IoT
@af9.usI just dropped the second post in my "self hosting public services" series like nftables drops packets. This one covers IP forwarding, host routing, and using nftables for firewall filters and NAT. #homelab #selfhosting

@woe2you.beige.party.ap.brid.gyHaving a bit of a weekend. My router died yesterday, so I've had to haul out the ISP router I've kept stashed in a box against this eventuality, but the router was also running my reverse proxy so all my services are a bit bollocksed.
@edywerder.bsky.social8 things I check before buying a home lab server.
My own main node, a Dell PowerEdge T360, pulls about 104 W 24/7. Roughly 19 CHF a month here in Switzerland. That's why power is high on my list.
